Mayor re-elected, new aldermen elected

Ackerman Mayor Dick Cain was re-elected to serve another term. Cain received 239 votes to Dale Reid’s 146 votes.

Cain has served as mayor for five years. This will be his second term.

Before running for mayor, Reid served as Ward 4 Aldermen for 12 years.

Official election results show the following votes totals for mayor:

Ward 1-Cain 47, Reid 13

Ward 2-Cain 40, Reid 12

Ward 3-Cain 62, Reid 58

Ward 4-Cain 90, Reid 63

In the Ackerman Town Election on June 4, the residents also elected a new Ward 4 Alderman. William “Billy” Ganann won with 96 votes against Lynn Scribner, who received 55 votes.

Aldermen in the other seats were elected with no opposition. They are Ward 1 Alderman Willie Miller, Ward 2 Alderman Tommy Curtis, Ward 3 Alderman George Rooks and Alderman at Large Carl “Barney” Phelps.

The Ackerman Mayor and Board of Aldermen new term will begin July 1.
