Trio of Indians take top spots in regional track meet

Three Ackerman High School athletes took first place honors in
individual events at the Region 3-2A Track Meet held at Winona High
School last Saturday.
In all, AHS had 11 boys and six girls qualify for the MHSAA Class 2A
South State Track Meet in Gulfport by placing in the top four in
their individual meets last weekend. The top four finishers in each
event on Saturday will advance to the MHSAA Class 2A State Meet in
Pearl on May 11.
Taboris Lee won the boys shot put with a distance of 43 feet, 10
inches, while Willie Miller was first in discus with a toss of 121
feet, four inches.
Quinton Lane took first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.88
and was second in long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 3.75 inches.
Paxton Sims was second in the discus and Jamarcus Bradley was second
in the high jump, while the boys 4×100 meter relay team took second.
Hayley Thomas finished second in the girls shot put.
Other Ackerman boys who qualified for South State and their finishes
and events are as follows: Bradley, fourth in 400 meter dash; Lenny
Taylor, third in 400 meter dash, K’Tre Brown, fourth in long jump;
T.Q. Brown, third in triple jump; Ben Carr, fourth in 3200 meter run;
Trent Furr, fourth in 300 meter hurdles; and David Ramirez, third in
1600 meter run.
Other AHS girls who qualified for South State and their finishes and
events are as follows: Peyton Hunt, fourth in 1600 meter run and
fourth in 3200 meter run; Madison Ray, fourth in 300 meter hurdles;
Shaketa Smith, fourth in long jump; Kayla Thomas, third in discus and
Taylor Tuck, fourth in 100 meter hurdles. The girls 4×400 relay team
also finished fourth.
