The JuneFest 5K Run/Walk will be the first event of the festival on
Saturday, June 1. The event is being sponsored by French Camp
Academy and Camp of the Rising Son. This year’s event is not only
for runners, but for walkers too. The entire family can participate
Registration will begin at 7 a.m. on race day with the race beginning
at 7: 30 a.m. in front of the pavilion at the walking track. The
course route will weave around the town of Ackerman with the finish
line being at the corner of Main and Commerce Streets.
Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female runners and
walkers. The top three male and female runners in each age category
will be awarded a prize. The runner age categories are: 15 & under,
16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.
The top male and female walkers in each category will be awarded a
prize. The walker age categories are: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39,
40-49, 50-59, 60+.
Registration is open now to runners and walkers. To be guaranteed a t-
shirt on race day your registration form must be received by May 13.
The pre-registration fee is $25 and registration the day of the race
is $30. Ages 10 and under can pre-register for $15 and registration
the day of the race is $20. A family of four can participate in the
race for $75.
If you are not able to participate the day of the race or would like
the t-shirt only you can register as a ghost runner for $20.

the Chamber of Commerce office.
The Choctaw County Medical Foundation will sponsor the post-race
table for all runners and walkers. The Chamber of Commerce will
provide each participant a sports drink after the race.
The winners of the race will be awarded their prize at the opening
ceremony of JuneFest at 10 a.m. at the pavilion on Main Street.
Following the 5K Run/Walk the Ackerman Twentieth Century Club will be
hosting a Pet Show. The Pet Show is open to all ages. The Pet Show
will be held next to the library and all proceeds from the event are
donated to the library. Registration for the Pet Show will begin at
9 a.m. with the show starting at 9:30 a.m. There is a $2 entry fee
for each category entered.
There are 18 different categories to enter! There are six categories
specifically for dogs: largest dog, smallest dog, longest hair dog,
shortest hair dog, smallest puppy, cutest puppy. There are three
categories specifically for cats: largest cat, smallest cat and
longest hair cat. There are nine categories opened to any type of
pet: best dressed pet, largest miscellaneous pet, smallest
miscellaneous pet, most unusual pet, longest tail, shortest tail,
longest ears, shortest ears and the look alike category where two or
more pets are dressed alike or theme dressed.
Ribbons will be awarded to the winners in each category with an
overall best of show winner being awarded at the end. Registration
forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce office.
The Choctaw County Cruisers will be hosting a car and truck show
around the courthouse starting at 8 a.m. Registration for the Car
and Truck Show is $25 and will include a t-shirt. The Choctaw County
Cruisers will be selling their Car and Truck show t-shirts for $12.
You may register in advance or the day of the show. Judging for the
Car and Truck Show will be from 11 a.m. to – 1 p.m. with door prizes
being announced from 1 pm– 1:30 p.m. First, second and third place
winners will be announced in each category. For a complete list of
