On Saturday, May 11th, load up the wagons and bring your family and
friends! This year’s Pioneer Day will be bustin’ loose with music,
crafts, dancing, cooking and more. It’s a free and educational,
family fun day at French Camp, MS.
Festivities start at 9:00 am and carry on till 4:00 pm. Listen to
live music all day long as you browse arts and crafts vendors and
watch period artisans demonstrate tatting, chair caning, wood
carving, quilting, basket weaving and more. Visit Council House Café
and Pioneer Day 2013 Facebook pages for information on activities and
Drop by in the morning to hear Alan Sibley and the Magnolia Ramblers
and for some square dance lessons under the big top. Stay for An
Afternoon of Bluegrass starting at 1:00 pm featuring The Pilgrim
Family, The Russell Burton Family, and Uncle Pug’s Bluegrass Band.
Other activities for the day include buggy and pony rides, a crosscut
saw competition, petting zoo, self-guided boardwalk tours, and door
prizes. Eat to your heart’s content from our pickin’s: Council House
Café sandwich, roasted chicken and smoked sausage boxed lunches and a
full Council House menu for supper.
Admission is free and the entire event is open to public on Saturday,
May 11th. Wander through the historic village of cabins, museum,
antebellum home, and enjoy life as it used to be at Pioneer Day in
French Camp, MS.
