French Camp’s Storment has big meet

French Camp Academy’s Joey Storment took home a pair of first-place
finishes in the MHSAA Class 1A South State Track Meet held at St.
Andrew’s in Ridgeland on Saturday.
In all, FCA had five individuals and four relay teams qualify for the
MHSAA Class 1A State Track Meet to be held at Pearl High School this
Saturday. The top four finishers in each event qualified for the
state event.
Joining Storment as a first-place finisher was Alexis Davis in the
girls 1600 meter run and the girls 4×400 meter relay team. Storment
won the boys 1600 meter run with a time of 5:01.60 and then took the
boys 3200 meters with a clocking of 10:49.43. Davis won the girls
1600 meters with a time of 6:01.90. The girls 4×400 meter relay team
posted a time of 4:29.48 to take first.
Trevor Wilkerson finished fourth in the boys 800 meter run and the
1600 meter run, while Chelsey McDaniel was second in the girls pole
vault with a height of eight feet, six inches, and Alex Perilloux was
third in the boys 3200 meter run.
The boys 4×400 relay team finished second with a time of 3:38.02,
while the girls 4×100 meter really team was third and the 4×200
really team took fourth.
The French Camp boys finished fifth overall out of 12 teams, while
the FCA girls were sixth out of 16 squads. Hinds AHS swept the boys
and girls Class 1A South State titles.
