4th Grade AES Student wins Second Place in Science Fair

On April 12, 2013, Megan McDaniel represented Ackerman Elementary
School at the Region V Mississippi Science and Engineering Fair at
the Humphrey Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi State University.

Megan’s science fair project entitled “Does the Shape of the Hull of
a Boat Affect It’s Speed, Direction and Buoyancy” was one of 82 4th
grade projects in the Engineering, Computers and Math category from
the 16 counties within Region V. Megan designed three different boat
hulls from recycled water bottles and determined which shape produced
the best results for each variable tested.

After a three hour period of judging, Megan was awarded the 2nd place
medal in her category.
