Twentieth Century Club members make decorations for the DYW program

Reported by Donna McKay, Club Reporter

The Ackerman Twentieth Century Club of Ackerman met at the Choctaw
County Library on Thursday, February 21, 2013 with eleven members
present. Club members enjoyed finger foods served by hostess Tinker
Forrester. During the fellowship time, members shared “Good Things,”
with all proceeds benefiting the Dollars for Delegates program.

President Susan Shurden called the meeting to order. Courtney Coleman
read the January minutes and they were approved. She also read
several correspondences. Treasurer Johnie Power gave the treasury
report. President Shurden handed out reports and stated that all
reports and judging deadlines were met.

Ginny Lucas reported that there were eight girls participating in the
Distinguished Young Woman program. She also informed the club that
there was a new scholarship patron. She also handed out work
assignments to each club member.

Tinker Forrester displayed the winners from the Art contest and those
drawings would be taken to District 2 Convention.

JoAnne Reid informed the club to keep up with the number of books
that club members read to students.

President Shurden reminded the club that District 2 Convention would
be held at Lake TiakO’Khata in Louisville and that she needs
volunteers to help with registration and a page for the President and
Vice President. She also reminded the club that State Convention will
be in Raymond, MS on April 25-27, 2013.

Donna McKay provided the meditation entitled “Heart Checkup”
Corinthians 13 test. She also led the club in the Pledge of
Allegiance. Cherrie Robison gave a highlight on being healthy and
making heathier choices.

The program was led by Ginny Lucas on making decorations for the
Distinguished Young Woman program for Marina Loper to use as part of
the stage decoration.
