Chamber to host community celebration

The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce will host a 25th anniversary
celebration for the Economic Development District and Foundation on
Saturday, April 13 at 6 p.m. The celebration will be a pot luck
dinner held at the Community Center.

The Chamber will provide the entrée and drinks for all guests. All
Chamber of Commerce members and the public is invited to attend this
event. There is no fee or ticket required. The Chamber asks you to
bring a covered dish to share with the community.
The Celebration potluck dinner will highlight the successes of the
Economic Development District and Foundation over the past 25th
years. There will be a note burning of the Choctaw County Community
Center at the potluck. The Economic Development District paid off the
debts of the Community Center in 2012.

The Choctaw County Economic Development District was founded on May
4, 1987, by the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors
appointed eleven Trustees to the District.

From the formation of the Choctaw County Economic Development
District came the Choctaw County Economic Development Foundation. The
Choctaw County Economic Development Foundation is served duly by the
eleven Trustees from the District along with six additional
individuals. These individuals are members of the Choctaw County
Chamber of Commerce. They are elected to serve on the Foundation at
the annual meeting held each spring.

The Chamber of Commerce serves the Choctaw County Economic
Development Foundation by carrying out activities that promote the
community, enhance commercial opportunities and supporting Choctaw
County businesses while encouraging local citizens to shop within
Choctaw County. The Chamber of Commerce was formed in 2011.

The current Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors are: Teresa Ryan,
Around the Clock Fitness Club; Debbie Bunkelman, Menzner Lumber and
Supply Co.; Vaughan Hill, Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw;
Amanda McBride, The Choctaw Plaindealer; and Tekoa Miller, French
Camp Academy.
