CCSD federal court case continued

The federal court case that will determine if and when the Choctaw
County School District will consolidate has been moved to April 2.

According to court documents, a telephone conference was held on
March 14 that resulted in the judge ordering to continue the
scheduled hearing from March 20 to April 2.

The Choctaw County School District is involved in this federal case
because the United States of America or the Department of Justice
filed a response and partial objection to the CCSD’s combined motion
and memorandum to modify Desegregation Plan earlier this month.

The CCSD and the DOJ do not agree on how the CCSD should be
consolidated, so a federal judge will decide on how the schools will
be changed or consolidated. The new hearing will be held April 2.
