Choctaw County libraries begin e-book service

E-Books are now available for check out through the Choctaw County
and Weir Libraries new webpage.

The Choctaw County Library in Ackerman and the Weir Library are part
of the Tombigbee Regional Library System which recently received a
Library Services and Technology federal grant, administrated by the
Mississippi Library Commission, to purchase electronic books which
can be read on a variety of devices. These devices include the
popular Kindle, Nook, many tablets and even some mobile devices.

The e-books are available, to library cardholders, through the TRL
website, The TRL also received another LSTA
grant to upgrade the library system’s website.

After accessing the website, click on the Overdrive icon at the
bottom of the page.

Users will need to have wireless access and install the free Adobe
Digital Editions, available on their device.

The Choctaw County Library offers free wireless internet to its patrons.

With your library barcode and pin number, you can check out the e-
books for up to two weeks.

Up to four books can be downloaded at a time; others that are in use
can be placed on hold. Titles will be automatically expire (disappear
from your device) after two weeks. There are no overdue fees and it
is free with the users’ barcode.

“To offer our patrons more selections, TRL has partnered with the
Columbus Lowndes Public Library in the Mississippi e-book
Consortium”, the TRL Director Mary Helen Waggoner said.

“With so many patrons owning Smartphones, Kindles, Nooks, etc., we
are excited to offer this new service. We will be adding additional
titles to the e-book list gradually.”
