EWH grad Shenanigan’s Parade ‘colleen’ 2013

Kristin Young of Gulfport, a graduate of East Webster High School,
has been elected as the 2013 Shenanigan’s Parade and events “colleen.”

Sponsored by the Mississippi Gulf Coast chapter of Quota
International, Shenanigan’s is a family-oriented parade held on the
third Sunday in March each year. The 28th annual Shenanigan’s Parade
will wind through downtown Gulfport at 2 p.m. March 17.

Net proceeds from the community service event benefit the hard of
hearing and speech impaired as well as disadvantaged women and
children on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Michael “Murph” Murphy and Young were introduced as parade grand
marshal and his colleen on March 3. During the parade, they will
greet the crowds in a horse-drawn carriage, while “St. Patrick”
blesses the crowds.

Young was homecoming queen her senior year at East Webster and Miss
EWH. She received a softball scholarship to East Mississippi
Community College, which she attended her freshman year.

Young is now a physical therapy assistant on the Gulf Coast and is
studying to become a physical therapist. She is the daughter of
Rhonda and Terry Young.
