NARFE to Meet
Feb. 28
The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association will meet Thursday, February 28 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Highway 12 East in Starkville. The guest speaker will be Martin Brunson who is associated with the Catch A Dream Foundation. The door opens at 11 a.m. All active & retired federal employees are encouraged to attend.

Tips for Meals On The Go! Feb 28,

If you’re living life in the fast lane, preparing tasty and nutritious meals can be a challenge. Join Registered Dietitian Carol Ball to learn some tips to simplify meal time in a healthy way.

First Responders Dinner March 1
The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce will host the First Responders Dinner on Friday, March 1 at the Choctaw County Community Center. Robert Latham Jr., Director of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, will be the featured speaker with entertainment by Southern Flair Bluegrass Gospel band. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for Chamber of Commerce members and $15 for Friends of the Chamber. The Choctaw County Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will host the 2013 Heritage Banquet on Saturday, March 2, at the Choctaw County Community Center. Spring Revival

March 3-5
First Unity Methodist Church invites everyone to worship with them in a Spring Revival on Sunday March 3-Tuesday, March 5. Sunday worship at 6 p.m., Monday-Tuesday at 7 p.m. Guest evangelist is Rev. Nelson Forrest, pastor of Webster Circuit United Methodist Churches.

Can Collection for Reform Baseball Park March 9
Reform Baseball Park is collecting cans to build a walking track. Bring your cans (not crushed) to the Reform Baseball Park on Saturday mornings between 9 and 11 a.m. on March 9, March 23, April 6 and April 20. Each 13 gallon plastic garbage bag full of cans will earn 5 points. Other metal will receive from 1 to 5 points. The person with the most points on April 20 will receive a prize.

Pastor Anniversary

St. Luke F.G.B. Church is celebrating Pastor Levon & First Lady Dorthy Murphy’s16th Pastor Anniversary. We would like for you to come and help us lift up the name of the Lord in celebrating this great occasion. The anniversary will Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m. at the St. Luke F.G.B. Church (191 Bruce Drive, Ackerman). The speaker for the occasion will be Bishop Eric Murphy of Birmingham, AL. The theme for this occasion is 1 Timothy 5:17, “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.”

Ragtime Jazz
Festival March 22
On March 22, MSU Libraries will sponsor Templeton Ragtime Jazz Festival. It will begin at 9 a.m. and end 10 p.m. at the Mitchell Memorial Library, Templeton Museum. Cost of admission is $50. Computer skills class March 25-April 29
Holmes Community College Workforce Development will have a six week basic computer skills class from March 25-April 29 on Monday nights from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at Wood Institute in Mathiston. Ladies Conference
April 5
Providence Baptist Church will have their 7th Annual Ladies Conference on Friday, April 5 at 6 p.m. The speaker will be Mara Fields of Pontotoc with praise and worship music by Nicole Oswalt and Shelia Pearson. Come join us for a night of music, worship and fun. Refreshments and door prizes will immediately follow the service. Nursery will be provided.

Flea Market

A Choctaw County Flea Market will be held April 6 in Ackerman. There is no vendor fee. Applications are available at the Choctaw County Extension Office and Broken Wings Ministry in Ackerman. Providence Baptist Church will have guest speaker, Nick Mingione, Assistant Baseball Coach at MSU on Sunday night, March 3 @ 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the message.

Women’s
Conference April 6-7
Ackerman Church of God will host a Women’s Conference April 6-7 with guest speaker Dorlene Harris and Teressa Smith Hooper will lead Praise and Worship. The conference is entitled “Daughters of the King”. Registration will be from 5-6pm on Saturday; Worship service beings at 6pm and Sunday Worship service will begin at 10:45am.
