12 more return qualifying papers

With just over one week left to qualify, 12 more people enter the political
races for the Boards of Aldermen for Ackerman, French Camp and Weir.

The election for Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the towns of Ackerman,
French Camp and Weir will be June 4. The qualifying deadline is 5 p.m.,
March 8.

As of February 25, six more people have returned their qualifying papers
for Ackerman Mayor and Board of Aldermen. The six people were Dick Cain,
Willie Miller, Tommy Curtis, Lynn Scribner, Billy Ganann and Carl “Barney”
Phelps.

The list of candidates that that turned in their qualifying papers for the
Town of Ackerman is:

Mayor-Dick Cain (incumbent); Dale Reid (currently serves as Ward 4 alderman)
Ward 1 Alderman-Willie Miller (incumbent)
Ward 3 Alderman-George Rooks (incumbent)
Ward 4 Alderman-Lynn Scribner, Billy Gannan

In the Town of Ackerman, anyone seeking to run as mayor or alderman at
large must file a petition with at least 50 signatures of qualified voters
of the Town of Ackerman to the town clerk by 5 p.m., March 8.

People seeking to run as Ward 1-4 aldermen for the Town of Ackerman must
file a petition with at least 15 signatures of qualified voters of their
respective wards of the Town of Ackerman to the town clerk by 5 p.m., March
8.

In French Camp, as of February 25, all current board members have turned in
their qualifying papers.

The list of candidates that that turned in their qualifying papers for the
Town of French Camp is:
Mayor-H. Glen Barlow (incumbent)
Mayor Pro Tem (also serves as alderman)-Becky Rogers (incumbent)
Alderpersons: (all incumbents) Peter Pendleton, Rebecca Stevens, Jan
Henderson, Jennifer Morgan

In the Town of French Camp, anyone seeking to run as mayor or alderman must
file a petition with at least 15 signatures of qualified voters of the Town
of French Camp to the town clerk by 5 p.m., March 8.

The Town of French Camp candidates are required to submit at least 15
signatures of qualified voters because the town has a population of less
than 1,000 citizens and the town is not separated into wards.

The Town of Weir has had two more people return qualifying papers, as of
February 25. Lee James has turned in qualifying papers for mayor. He
currently serves as Mayor of the Town of Weir. Eleanor Harrel turned in her
qualifying papers for alderman.

The list of candidates that that turned in their qualifying papers for the
Town of Weir is:
Mayor-Lee James (incumbent)

Aldermen (5 seats)-Clara Hemphill (incumbent), Eleanor Harrel

In the Town of Weir, anyone seeking to run as mayor or alderman must file a
petition with at least 15 signatures of qualified voters of the Town of
Weir to the town clerk by 5 p.m., March 8.

The Town of Weir candidates are required to submit at least 15 signatures
of qualified voters because the town has a population of less than 1,000
citizens and the town is not separated into wards.
