The Ackerman Board of Aldermen held a short monthly meeting where they approved seven resolutions at one time.
The Board of Aldermen met January 8, as their regularly scheduled board meeting and approved resolutions in regards to their $380,000 CDBG grant. The resolutions were: Consultant Agreement-Sample, Hicks & Assoc., Engineer Agreement-Spradling & Assoc., cash request and project related reports, Fair Housing, Minority Women, Section 3 and Residential Anti-Displacement and Relocation Assistance Plan.
Debbie Boley, town clerk, said all of the resolutions are routine with any CDBD grants the town as accepted.
The board also approved a credit card application with M&F Bank for the town. Mayor Dick Cain said the card would only be used for incidentals, booking hotel rooms for trainings and other miscellaneous items. Boley added that many hotels and stores will not give the tax exemption without an official town credit card or a letter with the town’s letterhead on it.
As an information item, Boley announced that the Department of Justice approved the ward redistricting plan which only moved 14 houses within ward lines.
The next regularly scheduled Board of Aldermen meeting will be February 5 at 6 p.m. in the board room at Town Hall.
