The Twentieth Century Club sponsored a Christmas Lighting Contest within the town limits of Ackerman. The selections were made by out of town judges on Monday night, Dec. 17. The two categories were Best Door/Entrance and Best Overall Display.
Twentieth Century Club secured the judges and helped during the judging process by driving them around town to see the displays between 6 and 8 p.m.
The Best Door/Entrance Award was given to Kerry and Maisie Lee on Cherry Street. They used a large stocking on the door, outlined door with colored lights and then displayed large packages on each side of the door. The entire display was spotlighted to give enhancement.
Fay Ward’s House on Quinn Street was aglow with lots of lights. This was the winner of the overall Best Decorated House. Candles in each window, lighted packages on the porch, lighted greenery around the door and spotlights on everything! Trees outside and inside were lighted. This is one of the older houses; it is beautifully done.
