From press reports
Remember that list you made at the beginning of the year, the one that was supposed to change your life—your 2012 New Year’s Resolutions? Maybe one of those items on your list was “donate blood just one more time this year.” It was something Mississippi Blood Services asked in our “Cover Mississippi 2012” campaign. Maybe you thought it was a good idea and you had every intention of doing so, but time (as it so often does) just slipped away and you feel like it’s too late to make a difference. Mississippi Blood Services wants to assure you that it is never too late to donate blood.
There will be a community blood drive at the Fred’s in Ackerman on Thursday, December 27, from 1 – 6 p.m. The MBS Donor Coach will be on site. All donors will receive a free T-shirt and gift card (while supplies last).
“It’s a few minutes of your time,” Susan Ates, MBS public relations specialist, said. “But it’s a lifetime for patients, their families and friends.”
Donating blood is safe, simple and it saves lives. Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with signed parental consent, visit our Web site for a copy of the form), weigh at least 110 pounds and have a valid ID. Visit us at msblood.com or call us at (888) 90-BLOOD (902-5663) for information. You can also visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/give2live and follow MSbloodservices on Twitter. When you give, people live.
Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) was founded in 1979. Mississippi Blood Services is the only not-for-profit blood center headquartered in Mississippi.
MBS supplies a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood products to Mississippi hospitals from the Tennessee line to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Mississippi Blood Services is Mississippi’s blood service.
