The newly constructed Pioneer Medical Clinic is slated to open to the public on Monday, December 17.

“After months of anticipation Pioneer is excited that construction of the Pioneer Medical Clinic is complete,” said Lauren Williams, administrator of Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw.

The brand new, state-of-the-art medical clinic offers 16 patient rooms and two procedure rooms.

Three providers will be seeing patients at the new clinic-Dr. Terry O’Malia, D.O., Alisha Tenhet FNP-C and Jill Shaw, FNP-C.

“They look forward to providing care to you and your family,” said Williams.

Dr. O’Malia along with Tenhet and Shaw will treat the whole family, from pediatrics to geriatrics, with non-emergency needs.

Williams added that the Pioneer Medical Clinic will be “a huge asset to the Ackerman medical community.”

Dr. Sidney Prosser, M.D. at the Pioneer Family Medical Clinic of Ackerman and Dr. Elizabeth Cole-Lipe, M.D. and Krista Blaylock, FNP- C, at the Pioneer Family Medical Clinic of Weir is excited to see patients as well. Both of those clinics will remain open.

As a patient of the Pioneer Medical Clinic, as well as the Pioneer Family Medical Clinics of Ackerman and Weir and Pioneer Community Hospital, all ancillary services of the hospital are provided.

The construction of the Pioneer Medical Clinic is Phase 1 of the construction project, according to Williams. She said Phase 2 is the outpatient physical therapy area at the new clinic and Phase 3 is the construction of the new Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw. The new hospital is under construction now and has an anticipated open date of mid-2013.

The new medical clinic and new hospital are being built by the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors and is leased to Pioneer Health Systems. “We (Pioneer) look forward to being the superior healthcare provider in the county and surrounding areas,” said Williams.

The Pioneer Medical Clinic will be open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and closed noon-1 p.m. for lunch. The clinic is on the corner of Highways 9 and 12, next to the construction of the new hospital.
