Mr. Ottis Busby December 6, 2012 Funeral services for Ottis Busby were held at 2 p.m. on December 9, 2012 at Chester Baptist Church with Rev. Rob Faulk officiating. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery, Ackerman, MS.

A Choctaw County native, Mr. Busby was a retired Farmer. He was also a member of Chester Baptist Church. He died December 6, 2012 at Vicker’s Personal Care Home in Mathiston, MS.

Survivors include a grandson: Chris Busby of Ackerman, MS; brother, John Howard Busby of Eupora, MS and a Sister-in-Law, of Ackerman, MS, along with two great-grandchildren.

Coleman Funeral Home, of Ackerman, was in charge of arrangements. Family suggest Memorials be made to Chester Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ruby Mae Lane Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Mae Lane, 75, were held 11:00 a.m., Saturday Dec. 1, 2012 at . Rev. Ronald Jefferson officiated. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery.

A resident of Ackerman, MS. Mrs. Lane passed away Friday November 23, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Columbus, MS. She was born Feb. 27, 1937 in Tullulah, Louisiana.

Survivors include husband, John Lane; sons, John Lane, Jr., Dennis Lane and Ty Lane; 5 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Alice Blackman Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Blackman, 67, were held 11:00 a.m., Monday Dec. 10, 2012 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman, MS. Rev. Tim Long officiated. Burial followed in Chester Baptist Cemetery near Ackerman, MS.

A late resident of Weir, MS. Ms. Blackman was a Factory Worker for years. Mrs. Blackman was a member of Salem Independent Church. Mrs. Alice Blackman died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus, MS.

She was born March 8, 1945 in Choctaw County, MS.

Survivors include daughters, Diane Blackman West of Weir, MS; sister, Emma Billingsley of Huntsville, AL; 1 grandson, Jeremey Randle. Family suggests memorial to Humane Society.

Mr. James Edward Upchurch Funeral services for Mr. James Edward Upchurch, 83, were held 3:00 p.m., Monday Dec. 10, 2012 at Chester Baptist Church near Ackerman, MS. Rev. Rob Faulk officiated. Burial followed in Chester Baptist Cemetery next to Chester Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS. A late residence of Ackerman, MS, He married Jean Bruce Upchurch from Ackerman, MS. Mr. Upchurch was a Bridge Construction Worker for years. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Mr. Upchurch was a member of Chester Baptist Church.

Mr. James Edward Upchurch died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at a residence in Ackerman, MS. He was born February 2, 1929 in Choctaw County, MS. Survivors include wife, Jean Bruce Upchurch of Ackerman, MS; sons, Butch Upchurch of Madison, MS: Jimmy Upchurch of Ackerman, MS; daughters, Angie Moncrief of Ackerman, MS; brothers, Calton Upchurch of Ackerman, MS; sisters, Joyce Ann Dozier of Jackson, MS: Mary Ethel McCarty of Ackerman, MS; 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. Family suggests memorial to Chester Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Building Fund.

Mr. James Doss (J.D.) McDonald

Mr. James Doss (J.D.) McDonald, 90, of Sturgis, MS; passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.

J.D. was born in Clarke County, AL, on May 23, 1922. He moved to Mississippi at the age of 4 and spent his younger adult life farming in Glen Allen. He relocated to Sturgis in 1959 and retired from Herschede Hall Clock Company.

He was a World War II veteran, having enlisted with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Sturgis Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Mr. McDonald loved to farm, fish and hunt, but his family was the most important thing in his life.

He is survived by his 4 daughters, Margaret McClelland (Bobby) of Sturgis, MS, Martha Palmer of Starkville, MS, Kathy Collier (Keith) of Louisville, MS, Carolyn Miller (John) of Gulfport, MS; 1 son, Clyde McDonald (Michelle) of Sturgis; 12 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

J.D. was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Pee McDonald; his parents, Vernon Doss and Nancy Belle Rivers McDonald; four sisters and three brothers.

A visitation was held Friday, December 7, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville and Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 1-2 p.m. at Sturgis Baptist Church with the funeral immediately following at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Russell Mord and Rev. James Mills. Burial followed in McClelland Cemetery in Sturgis.
