County basketball underway

Ackerman Indians

On Tuesday, Dec. 4 the Ackerman Indians boys and girls varsity basketball teams traveled to French Camp to tip off against the Panthers.

The Lady Indians took a 24-16 lead over the Lady Panthers into halftime. After returning from the locker rooms, the Lady Indians continued to dominate and claimed a 53-27 win over French Camp.

The Ackerman boys tip off against the Panthers followed. The Indians trailed behind French Camp 26-18 going into halftime, and lost a 50-44 decision to the Panthers.

The Indians hosted the annual Ackerman tournament last Thursday night, Dec. 6. Several area schools participated in the event with four games on Thurs.

The Lady Indians started the tournament tipping off against the Caledonia Confederates. The Indians took a 20-6 lead over Caledonia going into halftime and capped a 34-20 victory over the Lady Confederates.

Later that night the Indian boys faced the Nanih Waiya Warriors. Ackerman secured a 36-24 lead over Nanih Waiya before the half, and continued to out-score the Warriors with a 69-37 win.

Upcoming games The Lady Indians will host the Hamilton Lions this Friday, Dec. 14 with a 6 p.m. tip off.

On Mon., Dec. 17, both the Indian boys and girls varsity basketball teams will travel to Louisville to tip off against the Wildcats. The Lady Indians’ matchup will begin at 6 p.m. with the boys following.

French Camp Panthers The Panthers hosted the Ackerman Indians last Tuesday, Dec. 4, in boys and girls hoops action.

The Lady Panthers dropped a 53-26 decision while the boys gained a 50-44 win over the Indians.

Last Friday, the Lady Panthers picked up a 55-32 win in a dominate performance on the court against the East Oktibbeha Titans.

With tip off that followed, the boys continued the Panther dominance taking a 53-17 victory.

Upcoming games The French Camp Panther boys and girls varsity basketball teams will host the Ethel Tigers this Friday. The Lady Panthers start the hoops action at 6 p.m. with the boys following.

The boys varsity team fill host Hatley on Sat., Dec. 15 with a 5 p.m. tip off.

Weir Upcoming games The Weir Lion boys and girls varsity basketball teams will host the Nanih Waiya Warriors this Friday. On Tues., Dec. 18, the Lions will travel to Noxapater to tip off against the Tigers.

The Lady Lions will tip off at 6 p.m. with the boys’ matchup to follow.
