Food for Families Pack-the-Trailer event on Dec. 13, 2:30 p.m.-6 p.m. at Choctaw Co. Library
Help the Choctaw County MSU Extension Office restock the food pantry at Broken Wings Ministry in Ackerman from now until December 14.
The Choctaw County MSU Extension Office has partnered with the WTVA Food for Families Food Drive that allows food collected to stay in the county where it’s collected.
All food donated in Choctaw County will be donated to the Broken Wings Ministry.
Broken Wings Food Pantry serves an estimated average of 350 Choctaw County families a month. They distribute food boxes once a week to qualified persons who are below the established poverty level. Broken Wings also serves people or families in an emergency situation that have been referred by different organizations.
The food pantry is stocked by local donations and donations from the Mississippi Food Network.
Broken Wings Ministry helps people in Choctaw County.
Last year, 3,647 pounds of food, collected in the Food for Families Food Drive, was donated to Broken Wings.
Juli Hughes, County Director of the Mississippi State University Extension Service-Choctaw County and Bro. Roger Griffith, director of Broken Wings would like to collect more food items this year and hopes people will come out and donate to the Pack-the-Trailer event.
Everyone is asked to bring non-perishable food items to the Pack-the- Trailer event on Thursday, December 13 from 2:30 p.m.-6 p.m. at the Choctaw County Library to help pack the 12’ trailer for Broken Wings. This will be during the Extension’s Holiday Open House.
If you are not able to attend the event, bring your food items to the Extension Office next to the Choctaw County Courthouse in Ackerman.
