Ackerman Elementary School Turkey Recipes Mrs. Long and Mrs. Griffin’s Pre-K Class Mrs. Long’s and Mrs. Griffin’s Pre-K Class has been busy this month learning about Native Americans, Pilgrims and the 1st Thanksgiving. They also discussed how important it is to show gratitude and be thankful. God, family, friends, food and our homes are some of the things for which we are thankful. We are also thankful for the following things this Thanksgiving. Mrs. Ballard’s Kindergarten Class Chance Cork – first you shoot the turkey. Take all the feathers off. Then you cook it in the oven and let it cook for 5 minutes. I will eat it with a spoon and a fork. I will eat it with my mama and I might eat with my whole family because my granddaddy cooks stuff with my Nana.

Aaliyah Yates – you get a turkey in the woods. Shoot it and cook it on the stove with sauce. Orlando Martin – first you skin it and you kill it. Then you cook it with a stove for one minute. Then you eat it with a plate and fork. My family will eat the turkey with me.

Brantley Denson – first, we get the turkey from the store. The, take the stuff off and cook it in the oven. It needs to cook for at least a hour. I will eat it with ham. My whole family will eat together that day.

Owen Clark – first you shoot it. Pull off the feathers. I don’t like to eat feathers. I think that would be nasty. Sometimes you cook it in the oven but not in the little one because that would be hard to fit it in there. Cook it in the big oven for 51 days. Then you take it out and eat it with your hands. I will eat corn and cornbread too. My cousins and my brother and my family will eat with me too.

Grayson McCulloch – get the turkey from the store. Cook it in the oven for 20 minutes I guess. Then you eat it and gather around with your family. Have a feast and eat the turkey with forks.

Rhett Hayes – get the turkey from the store. Put it in the refrigerator. When it’s Thanksgiving, you put it in a pan and put it in the oven. I don’t remember how long. Maybe 17 minutes. Take it out of the oven and then you can eat the turkey with mashed potatoes. My favorite thing on Thanksgiving is watching tv.

Jyah Davis – you get the turkey from outside. Cook it when the oven gets hot – real hot – like 3 degrees. You cook it with chicken and cornbread. Then eat it with some cake. CC will eat with me and my family.

Moss Bruce – get the turkey at the grocery store like Walmart or Dollar General. Then you put it in a skillet, I think. Put some salt, pepper and hot sauce on it. Stick it in the oven. I think we would cook it on number 3 degrees for 15 minutes. Then I think you get it out of the oven put it in a plate. Cut it up and then I think you eat it with a spoon or fork. Just mommy, me and my daddy will eat it. I will go to Grandpa’s and BeBe’s later to play a little bit.

Marayvius McNeal – you kill it first. Then you bring it home and put it in the oven. First I put the oven door down and then I put it up and turn on the oven to 50 hundred degrees. Leave it in the oven for 20 minutes. You need a glove to take it out because if you touch it with your hand, your hand will get burnt. After you take it out, you cut it, put it on a plate and then you say god is great. God is good. Let us thank him for our food. Put some BBQ sauce on it with sugar because sugar makes it sweet. My brother and grandpa and me will eat it with some corn, chicken and meat.

Aloria DeGroot – I don’t know how to cook a turkey. I think sometimes the Indians put them on a stick. They put the end of a stick in a turkey and turn it around in the first. If you are not an Indian you would put it in the oven or put it in a pot on the stove.

Atleigh Hollingsworth – I guess you cook it in the oven, but it’s called a roast. I don’t know how long you cook it but I think 2 hours. I know you don’t put anything on it. Take it out of the oven and your family comes. They sit at the table and pray for God. Then we eat the turkey roast with a tummy ache. And oh it’s make you really sleepy.

Tate Miller – we usually kill our turkey at Thanksgiving. We put a little butter and pepper on it and stick it in the oven. We cook it about 14 seconds. Then we take it out and cut it up and eat it with corn. I like to drink apple juice with my turkey.

Keeanu Whitmore – you kill our turkey at Thanksgiving. We put a little butter and pepper on it and stick it in the oven. We cook it about 14 seconds. Then we take it out and cut it up and eat it with corn and salad too. I think that’s all!

Ryleigh Tuck – go to the store and get a turkey. We put it in a pot with some salt. Cook it in the oven for about 40 seconds, I think. Take it out and eat it with some corn. I will eat it with my mamma, daddy, brother and littlest sister.

Ella Claire – I am gonna find the turkey I the woods. Kill the turkey with a gun, cause that’s loud. I have a gun too! It’s a BB gun. Cut off the feathers and clean the thing. Put it in a pan with water and cook it for 30 hours. Take it out of the oven and set it on the table. Then say the blessing and eat. I will eat with all my family friends. Nick and Will are boys and I like them. They will eat with me cause they are so funny!

Mykia Holman – Get the turkey at the store. I will cook it in the big pan. I will bake it and fry it too. I put water and pepper and salt. You cook the turkey for 30 minutes. Then put it on a plate and eat it up.

Destiny McComb – get a turkey from the store. Mama takes it home and then she puts it up. We take it out and play with it first. Then we put it in a pot with some salt. You cook it for 6 days. We take a bath and then we go to bed. We get up and eat it with my brother, Delaney, Trent, Athony and JJ.

Alesha Cork – I get a turkey in the woods. You put it in the oven and cook it. You put salt and seasoning on it. You cook it for 5 minutes and it’s done. Put it on a plate and have dinner. I have dinner with mama, daddy and my sister.

Destiny McCune – get the turkey from the Piggly Wiggly. Pay for it. Go home and put it in the microwave for 30 minutes. Take it out and eat it with bbq sauce. My family will eat it with me.

Ca’Lasian Fair – go in the woods and find a turkey. Pull off the feathers. Put it in a pot and put pepper on it. Cook it in the stove for 5 minutes. Eat it with a fork. I would eat tomatoes, too!

Brison Meaders – go to the woods and shoot a turkey with a arrow. Get it and cook it in a pan in the house. Put some hot sauce and ketchup on it. Cook it for 5 days. I will eat it in my house. Sometimes when I eat turkey, I throw up.

How to Cook a Turkey by Ms B’s and Ms Joan’s Kindergarten Class Seth Miller – My Pop, Papaw, daddy, Uncle Bam, and Uncle Curt shoot a turkey in the woods. I use my hand and pull off all the feathers. Papaw gets the guts out but he’s always afraid he is going to throw up (one time he did). Daddy cuts it up and puts it in a pan. He puts some pepper and a little salt on it and puts the pan in the oven on hot for six minutes. It is done when the oven beeps. We eat at Pop and Mimi’s on “Thanksgiveness” plates. We eat peas, butterbeans, and mac and cheese with it. Everybody says the blessing together before we eat. We always have orange drinks for when we eat turkey. We have chocolate cake and chocolate cookies for dessert. We play games after we eat.

Bryce Turner – Mama gets a turkey at Dollar General – the biggest one! She puts in in the microwave for six minutes with mustard and ketchup on it. It is ready when it is brown. We eat it with broccoli, sandwiches, cookies, and orange juice. We have chocolate cake for dessert. I play football and with my toys.

Gavin Burton – My mama and daddy get a turkey at Super Value in Ackerman. It weighs fifty, but it doesn’t have feathers—just skin. I like the skin! Mama washes it in water in the sink and then cuts it with a really sharp knife. She puts it in a pan just plain and then she puts it in the oven on 335 for fifty seconds. When it is done, she cuts off all the bones and then cuts it into little pieces. She puts some for me on my turtle plate. We eat it with soup, broccoli, carrots, and peas. We have chocolate cake that my mama makes and I am her little helper when she makes it. We also have water, apple juice, milk, chocolate milk, sweet tea with no ice for me and ice for everyone else, and coke with ice. Mama, Daddy, Uncle Shane, Uncle Corey, and Papaw say the blessing. After we eat we watch football on television and then I go outside and play.

Izzy Vowell – My daddy will kill the turkey in the woods. He will pull out all the feathers and skin it. He will cut it up and put it in a pan and cook it in the oven on 50 for sixty minutes. The oven will beep when it is done. He will put it on a big plate for us to eat. We eat loaf bread, carrots and peas, and have chocolate cake for dessert.

Hunter Holland – My mama gets a turkey at Wal-Mart that weighs 10 pounds. She will put it in a pan with some good stuff like salt and pepper and butter. She will put it in the oven on 1 for five minutes. The oven will just beep when it is ready. Mama puts it on a special orange plate and cuts it up for us. She says the blessing. We eat chips and chocolate cake with a dinosaur on it. Then my brother and me have a pillow fight, but he cheats and puts two pillows in the bag.

Jackson Hood – Mama gets a turkey that weighs 9 pounds at the Pig in Mathiston. She puts it in the microwave with salt and cooks it for nine hours on 909. The timer thing on the microwave beeps when the turkey is done. She puts it on a pretty plate with flowers on it. Daddy will cut it and give us all some. I say the blessing—not a special one, just regular. We will eat dressing and mashed potatoes and gravy with it.

Riley Busby – Daddy will get the turkey at the turkey farm and kill it with a gun. He will use his knife to cut off the feathers, the feet, and the mouth and just leave the front of his body. He will wash it in the sink, I think. Then he will cook it on the grill—he puts a plastic bag under it. He will put some salt and pepper that’s all on the turkey and cook it on the grill for thirty minutes. Daddy watches it and when it is a little black it is done. We also eat some carrots (I don’t really like carrots), corn, and mashed potatoes. We don’t like to say the blessing. After we eat we sit down and watch TV.

Adraya Sherman – My mother will get a little, little turkey from a turkey farm. She will shoot it and then take off the feathers and cut off the feet and beak with a knife. Then she will put it in a pan in the oven on 7 for five minutes. When it is peach-color, it is done. She will put it on a white and blue plate. We will say the blessing all together. We eat greens, mac and cheese, and corn with our turkey. We will watch Dora on TV after we eat.

Daniel Young – Grandmaw will buy a turkey that weighs about 40 pounds at Wal-Mart. She will put it in a pan with potatoes and pepper and put it in the oven on a little hot for an hour. When the oven dings it is done. She uses a round white plate to put it on to cut it up. We eat carrots, potatoes, and butterbeans with it. I say the blessing. We have chocolate pie for dessert. It is yummy!

Kamryn Miller – My mother will buy a turkey that weighs fifty at Fred’s. She will put it in a chair on cold for one hour. It’s gonna say, “I’m ready!” when it is done. We will eat chicken, bread and rice with our turkey. We always drink juice.

Emma Bell – My Mimi will kill a turkey in the woods and cut off its feet and bill. She will pull the feathers out with her fingers. (She wants my daddy to kill a turkey, but he’s just interested in hunting deer.) It’s gonna weigh 17 pounds. She will wash it in the sink and throw it in the oven with ketchup and ranch. It will cook for seven hours on 7. The oven will ring when it is done. She gets it out and puts it on a special angel plate. Papaw cuts it up for us. We will eat French fries (I love French fries!), tomatoes, green beans, and mashed potatoes. (But I don’t eat any of that other stuff because it makes my stomach hurt and I will “frow” up. Once I “frowed” up in my bed! I only will eat chicken nuggets or chicken strips ‘cause I don’t want to “frow” up in my bed again!) We have chocolate pie for dessert, but my brother eats all of it! After we eat we watch hunting shows and shows about snakes or maybe a football game.

Mary Claire Salley – Nana will get a turkey from Wal-Mart. It weighs one hundred pounds. She will pull out the feathers and Pop will cook it on the grill with butter and BBQ sauce. When it is done, the turkey will turn red. He will put it on a special plate with flowers and a turkey in the middle. Nana cuts it up for us. We will have “buttergreens”, cranberry sauce (I don’t eat that!), corn, mashed potatoes with gravy, and corn. We will have either vanilla or chocolate ice cream, too. Sometimes Nana will make a cake that is a surprise kind. My cousin or one of my aunts will say the blessing. Then the kids go out to play and the grown-ups just talk.

Emily Hubbard – Mama hunts and kills a turkey that weighs 29. She shaves off the feathers with Michael’s razor that he uses to shave his face. She will cut off the beak, legs, and feet with a sharp knife. She washes all the stuff off it in the sink. She puts it in a pan with salt and pepper and puts it in the oven on “hot as a pepper” for five hours. She gets a knife and pokes it to see if it is done. If it is done, she puts it on an angel and heart plate—it’s special. We also eat corn and butterbeans. I ride on my bike and Mama and Michael watch deer hunting videos.

Amya Golliday – Grandma gets a turkey from Wal-Mart. It weighs three. She puts it in the oven on 5 for three minutes. She puts it on a plate with flowers on it. We eat potatoes, chips and dip, beans, cornbread, and greens, too. We have a real good apple pie for dessert. We say the blessing all together and thank God for the food.

Jakylin Franklin – My mom buys a turkey from Dollar General. It is as big as a horse. She puts it in a pan with butter. She puts the pan in the oven for seven hours on ten. The light on the oven turns blue when the turkey is done. She puts it on a special plate that has Indians killing buffalo on it. We have butterbeans, dressing, corn on the cob, too. We have a cake that has chocolate chip cookies in it. The chocolate chips melt in the oven. My GranGran washes dishes. I go outside and play with my cousins and the grown-ups smoke cigarettes.

Kenyauta Cork – My Grandma gets the turkey at Dollar General. It weighs $6.00. She puts it in a pan with salt and oil for light and dark brown. She cooks it in the oven on hot for eight. She puts it on a big plate and we eat tomatoes, lettuce, broccoli, cornbread, dressing and mac and cheese. Grandma says the blessing for God, food, kids, and other stuff. Mama, Grandma, and the kids watch the Disney Channel. Daddy don’t do nothin’—he just lays around. Sometimes he sleeps!

Abby Watson – Mom buys a turkey at Wal-Mart. It weighs four. She cooks it on eight for seven hours. She checks to see if it is done.

Riley Peden – My Jodi gets a turkey at school that weighs really heavy. We leave the feathers on him so he won’t burn. She puts it in the oven on 156 for really long. She puts it on a Batman plate when it is done. We also eat noodles, hotdogs, pancakes, chocolate cookies and cowboy pie. Then we all go to bed!

Chevez Sellers – My Grandmaw buys a turkey at Grocery Stop-in. It weighs big. She puts it in a bowl by itself and puts it in the oven on 5 for six minutes. You have to cook it until you can’t smell it any more. Then it is done. We have bread, potatoes, corn, and cheese with it. Katelyn Collum – Mawmaw Christy gets her turkey in the woods. Poppy kills it and MawMaw Christy would pull off the feathers. Poppy will cut off the feet and the beak. You put it in a pan and put it in the oven on 14 for sixty minutes. It is done when the stove gets to three zeroes. We let the turkey cool and then Poppy cuts it. We all say the blessing. We have pancakes, corn, spaghetti, and sweet potato pie, too.

Malayisa Shannon – My granny gets her turkey from Dollar General. It will weigh six. She will put it in the oven with pepper on it for seven days. We will eat beans, grease, gravy, potatoes, and cherry cake. John Reese Staten – Mawmaw Linda gets her turkey at Piggly Wiggly. It weighs 60 pounds. She cooks it with sticks in the oven on really hot for four minutes. She puts it on a Thanksgiving people and turkey plate. We also have mashed potatoes, rolls, peas, butterbeans, and corn on the cob. We have vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Then we watch Buzz Lightyear and Cars on TV.

Turkey Recipe Book By Miss Meriah and Miss Shana’s Kindergarten Class Marlee Coleman Me and my daddy would go to the woods and catch a turkey in a big fishing net. Then we would drag it back to his big, red truck. Once we got home we would take it out of the net and pull all the feathers off. Then we would wash the turkey off and season it with salt, pepper, and onions. We put the turkey in the oven and bake it for one minute, we take the turkey out and eat it with rice. It’s so good!!

Briyana Jobe Me and my papa would go to the woods and shoot a turkey with his BB gun. We bring the turkey home and wash it off to get all the trash off of it. We put the turkey in a big, gray pan, and bake it for one hour. We stick holes in the turkey to make sure it’s done. We take it out of the oven and eat it with dressing and cranberry sauce.

Cherish Bradley My grandma Teresa would go to Wal-Mart and buy a big, fat turkey. We shoot the turkey with the big, black gun. We bring the turkey back to the house and clean it. Then we put it in the oven and cook it for one second. We take the turkey out of the oven and eat it with mashed potatoes and rolls.

Larson Gammill Me and my daddy go to the woods to find a turkey. We shoot the turkey with his big gun. We bring the turkey back to the house and clean it. Then we put itin the oven and cook it for one second. We take the turkey out of the oven and eat it with mashed potatoes and rolls.

Jordyn Ashford My mom and I go to SuperValue and buy a turkey. We put the turkey in the car and take it home. We have to hurry and get home because we can hear the turkey moving around in the truck. When we get home we take the turkey out of the car, and drag it in the house. I help my mom wash the turkey and pull the feathers off. Then we put the turkey in the oven and bake it for eight minutes. We take it out and eat it with lemon pie.

Liam Montgomery My family and I go to the grocery store and buy a turkey. We put the turkey in the van and bring it home. When we get home we put the turkey in a pan and bake it with salt and pepper. We cook the turkey for five minutes, then we take it out and eat it with mashed potatoes and peas. Sumayah Miller

I would go to Broken Wings and get a turkey with mom and my brother. My mom would cut it in half and bake it. After a long time in the microwave my mom would give it to my grandpa. We would eat it with ketchup, mustard, and syrup.

Shawn Hubbard My mom, me and my sister would go to Wal-Mart and buy a turkey. We will wash it off and cook it for six minutes. We take it out of the oven and put lettuce, hot sauce, and hotpeppers on it. We serve it out of the Big Black Pan!!

Alanah Pratt My daddy and I would kill a turkey in the garden with a knife. Then we pick off the feathers, wash it, put flour on it and bake it 14 minutes. Then we eat it with potatoes and cornbread.

Zoey Garner My daddy and I would go to the grocery store and get a turkey. We would take it home and wash and clean it. We will season it with salt, pepper and onions. Then put it in the oven and bake it for one hour. We will serve it with other good foods.

Cameron Brown Me and my daddy would go to the woods and kill a turkey. We bring the turkey home and clean and wash it. We put it in the microwave and cook it for ten minutes. We eat him with syrup and other spices.

Jessica Turner My mom and I would go to the store and buy a turkey. We take the turkey home and put it in the oven. We cook the turkey for five minutes, then we take it out and eat it with tomatoes.

Cooper Utley My dad and I go hunting to find a turkey. Once we find it, my daddy shoots it with his gun. We bring it back to the house and wash it. We put the turkey in the oven and bake it for ten minutes. We eat our turkey with peas and bread.

Donovan Eiland My dad and I go to Wal-Mart and buy a turkey. We take the turkey home and clean it off. My mom puts the turkey in a big, black pot and cooks it in the oven for ten hours. We take it out of the oven and eat it with greens and potatoes.

Earl Green My papa and I go behind our house in the woods and shoot the turkey. We bring the turkey back to the house and clean it. We put the turkey in the oven and cook it for six hours. Then we take it out and eat it with gravy.

Tristin Hayes My dad and I go to the woods and shoot a turkey. We hook the turkey to our four-wheeler and drag it back to the house. We put the turkey in the sink and wash it off. Then we put it in the pan and in the oven. We cook the turkey for six minutes. We like to eat our turkey with dressing and potatoes.

Aleesha Hoover My mom and I go to the grocery store and buy a turkey. We put the turkey in our car and bring it home. My mom helps me get the turkey out of the car and carry it in the house. We wash it off and put seasoning on it. My mom puts the turkey in the oven and bakes it for four hours then we eat it.

Roger Montgomery My mom and I get in the car and to go the store. We carry the turkey home, my brother and I spray it off with the water hose. We take the turkey in the house and my’ mom puts it inside the oven. We cook our turkey for three hours. We take it out and enjoy it.

Austin Kelly My dad and I go to the woods and shoot a turkey. My dad brings the turkey home, and washes it off. My mom puts the turkey in the oven and cooks it for thirty hours. We take the turkey out of the oven and eat it with bread.

“How to Cook a Turkey” By: Mrs. Shelley’s and Mrs. Bethany’s Kindergarten Class Jayda Adams- Put the turkey on the stove. Put it on a plate and wait til it gets cold. Then you eat it.

Javari Carter- Put the turkey in the oven. Then you eat it.

Kirk Cole- You’ve got to cook the turkey long enough just to make it done. You’ve got to stir it up and then when you try to taste it and it’s not good, you can put some sugar in it.

Avery Cravens- My papaw has one of those things that you can stick in the turkey and it will make the turkey turn around and around while it cooks. When it gets done cooking, we will eat it for Thanksgiving!

Emerie Crowley- You shoot the turkey. You go find him. Then you bring him to the house. Then you put him in the oven. Turn it on, and then you close it, and then you cook it. Then you eat it.

Collier Easley- I would cook it on the stove.

Jaqueria Esters- You kill a turkey with a gun, or with a knife. Now, this is the way to cook it: in a stove with an oven! That’s all I know!

Conner Fondren- You kill the turkey, then cook it in the stove.

Zhioukevis Jackson- You shoot it and you get two sticks and eat it!

Kylie Jones- I would put feathers on its head and put a little tail at its bottom. Then I would put his head in his beak.

Karter McCuller- Put on some numbers on the microwave and then you take it out. Then you eat it. Ayinde McNeal- Kill the turkey, then put it in a pan, then eat it!

Jacob Medders- You put it on a stove, then put a lot of stuff on it. The stuff is to cook with. Then take it out, then you eat it.

Chancen Mosley- You kill the turkey with a gun. You put it in the stove. Then you eat it.

Jake Null- I would kill the turkey by throwing a pitchfork at it. Then I would shoot it. Then I would roast it. Then I would eat it!

Alexis Patterson- I would get my daddy to go find the turkey in the woods. He would kill it with a gun or a knife. Spike it and it goes around and around to cook it. Take it out and put it on a plate. Eat it with a fork! We would also eat mashed potatoes, pizza, and cornbread.

Ella Power- I’d kill a turkey for Thanksgiving. I would fry it in a pan. Then we’d eat it!

Talaysia Robinson- I would cook a turkey with a spoon and a fork.

Caleb Shurden- I would kill it and then cut it up and put it in a pan. I’d pour hot water on it and soak it. Then you can skin the hide off and you could pull all its guts out. I don’t like those- they’re yucky. Just leave the meat in it. Get the hair and skin and stuff off. I would make a couch sheet out of the hide. Just pour salt and pepper on it, and then put a corndog stick in it, so you don’t get it all over you when you eat it.

Eliza Starks- Put the turkey on the stove. Then put it on a plate. Then cook it.
