The Ackerman Board of Aldermen held their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on November 6. The board held a public hearing for depositories for the town’s funds where they approved M&F Bank for the town’s checking accounts and the Bank of Kilmichael for CDs and other items.
The Board of Aldermen also approved: -AHS Baseball sponsorship of $300 for 2013. -CEDA Resolution Act. The Mississippi Municipal League requests all towns’ support of attempting to have legislation passed for a one percent sales tax increase for special projects. -Travel for Mayor Dick Cain to the CDBG Implementation Workshop on November 8 in Flowood and to the Small Town Conference in Meridian on November 15-16. -Travel for Mike Brasher, Public Works director, to Sigma Consulting & Training Inc. Chemical Spill Response Training in Batesville on November 13. -Travel for Debbie Boley, town clerk, to the Small Town Conference in Meridian on November 15-16 and to the 2012 Municipal Clerks/Tax Assessor Winter Educational Conference in Jackson on December 12-13. -To purchase a used chipper for $10,000 if and when the town receives a grand from DEQ. The Board of Aldermen will meet Tuesday, December 4 at 6 p.m. for their next regularly scheduled meeting.
