30 Day Giveaway The Ackerman Athletic Booster Club is sponsoring a 30 day giveaway during the month of November. Among items to be given away are: $100 cash, rifles, oil change, mani & pedis, gift certificates, and other items too numerous to mention. Tickets may be purchased from any athlete or booster club member. Tickets are $30 and offer 30 chances to win. If your name is drawn as a winner, it goes back in the pot for another chance. VFW Meeting Nov. 1 The VFW will meet November 1 at Pap’s in Ackerman at 5:30 p.m.

FCE Fall Festival Nov. 3 French Camp Elementary will have a Fall Festival on November 3 from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. The festival will feature a cake walk for 50 cents per walk, inflatables-two jumpers, slide, dragon obstacle course for $5 unlimited jumping and a Chili Supper which includes chili, crackers, fritos, drink, and dessert for $5. The FCE PTO is sponsoring the event.

Flea Market Nov. 3 A Choctaw County Flea Market will be held Saturday, November 3 from 6 am-4 pm at the corner of Hwy. 12 and Hwy. 15 in Ackerman. There is no vendor fee. Vendor applications are available at the Extension office in the Courthouse Annex and Broken Wings Ministry. You may also email jhughes@ext.msstate.edu. The flea market is sponsored by the MSU Extension Service’s Turning the Tide on Poverty project/Buy Local-Buy USA action team. For more information, contact Judy Cooper at 285-7593.

Fundraiser for Union Fire Department Nov. 3 Union Fire Department is sponsoring a fundraiser on November 3. They will be selling Brunswick stew beginning at 4:30 p.m. and will also sell chances on $100, have live music and a cakewalk. Everyone is welcome to come.

AARP Driver Safety program Nov. 3 The AARP Driver Safety program will be held November 3 from noon-4:30 p.m. at the Ackerman Public Library, 561 S. Louisville Street. Program is especially designed for drivers age 50 and over. Fee is $14 each for non-members, $12 each for AARP members and free for veterans. Presbyterian Church Nov. 4 Homecoming services at Huntsville Presbyterian Church will be Sunday, November 4 at 10:30 a.m. Dinner on the grounds following the service.

Enon C.P. Church Homecoming Nov. 4 Enon C.P. Church will celebrate their 2nd Annual Homecoming on Sunday, November 4. Services will begin at 10 a.m. with singing by the Southern Image quartet. Southern Image has been performing for approximately 15 years doing concerts with many well known artists throughout those years. Following the singing, Bro. Ray Latham, former pastor, will be bringing the morning message. A potluck meal will be served immediately after the worship service. Everyone is invited to come and share this special day. “Habits to a Successful Marriage” Nov. 7, Nov. 14 There will be a “Habits To A Successful Marriage” conference at the Ackerman Church of God on Nov. 7th and 14th at 7 pm with Pastor John Daniels as the speaker. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.

AHS Take a Vet to School Day Nov. 8 The JROTC program is sponsoring the Ackerman High School Take a Vet to School Day on November 8 at 10 a.m. at the Ty Cobb Auditorium. For more information call Major Bruce Morris (R) at 285-4101 ext. 114.

Christmas Open House Nov. 8 Christmas Open House will be held Thursday, November 8. Hours will be set by each individual participating Chamber business with the Open House ending by 8 pm. If you are a Chamber member and would like to participate in Christmas Open House, please contact our office. If you would like to join the Chamber, please call 285-3778. Veteran’s Day Program Nov. 10 A Veteran’s Day Program will be held Saturday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at the National Guard Armory in Ackerman. Cookies and cokes will be served at 10:30 a.m. More details to be announced soon.

Brunswick Stew Sale Nov. 10 Enon C P Church will be cooking Brunswick Stew for donations on Saturday, November 10. If you would like to reserve a gallon, prior to the 10th, bring your jar with your name on it to the church and we will fill the reserved jars first. The stew should be ready for pick up by noon.

Seminar Nov. 13 French Camp Presbyterian Church will be having a Grief Share: Surviving the Holidays” Seminar on November 13 at 6:30 p.m. To attend the seminar is free. Our Surviving the Holidays seminar will help you prepare for the challenges that can make this time of year so difficult for those who are grieving, and find the strength, comfort and hope you’ll need to make it through the holidays, and every other day. Christmas Parade shirts sale Nov. 7 If you would like to purchase a Christmas Parade t-shirt, please contact a Ackerman 20th Century Club member. Forms can also be picked up at the Chamber office (Economic Development) across from the Courthouse. T-shirts are $12 for short sleeve and $15 for long sleeve (add $1 for 2xl & 3xl). Benefit for Edwards Nov. 10 There will be a benefit for David Edwards (Chief Deputy Winston County) to help with expense for a liver transplant on November 10 from 12-6pm at the Louisville Coliseum, Ivy Avenue. Live music and singing, jumpers for the kids, face painting, buggy rides, womanless beauty review, cake auction, bbq plates, bbq sandwiches, hotdogs, chicken plates, popcorn, drinks. Bring the whole family and enjoy a great time!

Historical Luncheon Nov. 13 The next Historical Highlight Luncheon at French Camp Presbyterian Church will be Tuesday, November 13 at noon. Our speaker is Carol Cannon, the wife of French Camp Academy’s former President Rich Cannon. Carol will be sharing “Memories of a Former First Lady” and will share stories about the years she and her husband served the Academy. All are welcome! Lunch is provided for a $2 donation.

Our December meeting will be December 11; we’ll enjoy a lunch together and share Christmas memories.

Christmas Brunch Dec. 8 Celebrate the Season at a Christmas Brunch on December 8th from 9am-11am at the Community Center in Ackerman. Come enjoy the beautiful tablescapes delicious dishes and door prizes to be given away. Vendors will be on hand so plan to shop for Christmas. Special music will be provided and you don’t want to miss the featured speaker – Rita Sweatt. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased from any club member. Dec. 6, Entry deadline Nov. 30 The Town of Ackerman would like to announce plans for the 2012 Christmas Parade. This year’s theme will be A Picture Perfect Christmas. It will be held in downtown Ackerman on Thursday, December 6, beginning at 6 p.m. Entry forms must be completed and returned no later than November 30 to: Ackerman Christmas Parade, PO Box 394, Ackerman, MS 39735. Christmas Parade in Weir Dec. 11 “Christmas in My Hometown” is the theme of the 2012 Christmas Parade in Weir. The parade will be Tuesday, December 11 at 6 p.m. All churches, organizations, and individuals are invited to march or ride in the parade. Full Circle Knitting/ Crocheting Group Location: Choctaw County Extension Office Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting group meets every Tuesday from 9 a.m.- Noon.
