By Press Reports

On Sunday, October 14, 2012, the Ackerman United Methodist Church held a Cornerstone Celebration and Homecoming to commemorate the one- hundredth anniversary of the building of their sanctuary. Reverend Embra K. Jackson, Superintendent of the Starkville District of the United Methodist Church, delivered the message during the morning worship service. In addition to his message, Rev. Jackson led those in attendance in a responsive rededication prayer.

The event was well attended by former members and pastors, as well as present members and friends of the church. Immediately following the service, dinner was enjoyed in the church fellowship hall by all those who attended. A powerpoint presentation and memorabilia were available for viewing during the day’s activities. A condensed church history was printed and provided to those who were present at this special service.

Despite the stormy weather, those who attended left with a renewed sense of pride and appreciation for the rich heritage of the Ackerman United Methodist Church.
