The French Camp Panthers came home with their fifth consecutive win last Friday night.
The Panthers traveled to Coffeeville to square off with the Pirates in Class 1A, Region 2, District 3 play. The Panthers now claim the top spot in their district after their 46-6 win over the Pirates.
Coffeeville only managed to score once during the entire game. Early in the first quarter, Bobby Townsend took a block field goal attempt by the Panthers 70 yards for a Pirate touchdown. Coffeeville had a 6-0 lead, but it would not hold long.
Later in the first quarter, Senior Ben Hosket blocked a Pirate punt and returned it 16 yards for a Panther touchdown. Sam Gould added the extra point needed for French Camp to take the lead over Coffeeville, 7-6.
The Panther offense exploded in the second and third quarters adding three touchdowns in each quarter.
Senior running back Jaylon Clemons added a touchdown run from three yards out in the second quarter followed by the extra point from Gould.
Minutes later, junior quarterback Jesse Hosket found Lovondra Carter in the end zone with a 34-yard pass. Gould added the extra point giving the Panthers a 21-6 advantage over Coffeeville.
Hagan Box capped the French Camp scoring for the first half of the game with a 37-yard punt return.
The Panthers were ahead 27-6 entering halftime.
In the third quarter, Clemons entered the end zone again. Completing a successful Panther drive, Clemons dashed 12 yards for another French Camp touchdown. Gould added the PAT and the Panthers were ahead, 34-6.
Jesse Hosket furthered his team’s lead later in the third quarter with two scoring passes.
Jesse Hosket connected with Dylan Dickey on a 15-yard pass and went through the air again this time finding Carter with a 33-yard pass gaining French Camp’s 46-6 win over the Pirates.
Offensively, Clemons led the rushing attack with 10 carries for 91 yards with two touchdowns. Box picked up two carries for 46 yards, while Jesse Hosket had seven carries for 37 yards. Corrie Witt followed with two carries for 16 yards.
Jesse Hosket was 7-16 through the air for 152 yards with three touchdowns.
Carter had two receptions for 67 yards with two touchdowns, while Box had one reception for 31 yards. Ben Hosket had two receptions for 28 yards while Dickey had two receptions for 26 yards with one touchdown.
On defense, Douglas Hughes and Dickey led with 11 stops each. Ben Hosket and Matthew Castle each had 10 stops each, while Javante McAdory, Carter, Cortez Johnson and Daniel Hughes had seven stops a piece.
Dickey stacked up three sacks during the game, while Castle had one sack.
Ben Hosket and Castle each blocked a Pirate punt.
Ben Hosket, Hunter McKnight, McAdory and Jesse Hosket each recovered a Coffeeville fumble during the game.
The Panther overall record advanced 6-2. French Camp is undefeated in district play, 5-0.
This Friday night the Panthers host the Montgomery County Hornets from Kilmichael.
The Hornets have a 1-8 overall record and are 1-5 in division games. Montgomery Co. was recently defeated by Durant, 30-12.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
