Beware the streets of Choctaw County will soon be filled with superheroes, princesses, ghosts, witches and many more odd creatures in search of tricks or treats.
The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce invites children, ages 0-12, to the Spooktacular Parade and Truck or Treat on October 30 in downtown Ackerman.
Children and their parents are encouraged to meet at the walking track in downtown Ackerman at 6 p.m. for the Spooktacular Parade. Children will parade around part of the walking track then everyone is invited to immediately head over to the parking lot near the Train Depot on Main Street for a Trunk or Treat.
While at the Spooktacular Parade don’t forget to vote for your favorite scarecrow in the Scarecrow Trail, sponsored by the Choctaw County Master Gardeners.
The Chamber of Commerce welcomes any individual, church/religious group, organization or Chamber businesses to setup for the Trunk or Treat. All vehicles must be registered with the Chamber by Friday, October 19 to participate. There is no fee for this event. Set up will be from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m. on October 30.
Vehicles registered for the Truck or Treat must be decorated and homemade food items, fruit or drinks of any kind are not allowed.
Prizes will be given for the Best Decorated Trunk/Vehicle in each category-Individual, Business, Church/Religious group and Organization.
Also remember that Main Street and part of Commerce Street will be blocked during the Spooktacular Parade and Trunk or Treat for the safety of the children.
