Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw is wants to “Paint the Hospital Pink” for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and PCHC needs the community’s help to “Paint the Hospital Pink” to raise funds for The Pink Ribbon Fund.

Every Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw and Choctaw Nursing Center employee will be selling pink ribbon donation cards during the October. Each card is $1 and will be displayed in the halls of the hospital.

The hospital will kick off the month on October 5 with an awareness walk and balloon release. The public is invited to join the staff of PCHC and Choctaw Nursing Center on Friday, October 5 at 10 a.m. in the hospital lobby. Everyone will be given a pink balloon and, after a brief prayer, will walk from the hospital, downtown and back to the hospital.

After returning to the hospital everyone will release the balloons to honor those that have been touched by this disease.

Raising funds for The Pink Ribbon Fund will continue on Friday, October 19 with a bake sale. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit The Pink Ribbon Fund.

The bake sale will be held in front of the hospital offering a variety of treats. Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw is located at 311 West Cherry Street in Ackerman.

At the end of the month, PCHC will be offering hamburger sack suppers following the Spooktacular Parade and Truck-or Treat event on Tuesday, October 30 in downtown Ackerman. Details will be announced soon on the hamburger fundraiser.

Everyone is encouraged help raise awareness and funds to support this worthy cause. Contact Vaughan Hill, Community Educator, at 662-285-1959 or visit www.pchchoctaw.com for more information.
