Gospel Singing Oct. 6 Gospel Singing on October 6 at 6 p.m. at the Round-Up for Christ Ministry “Cowboy Church” in Vaiden. Our Heritage Community Chorus practice Oct. 6 Anyone interested in joining the Our Heritage Chorus traveling choir should attend practice on Saturday, October 6 at 4 p.m. at Faith Temple Pentecostal Church on Hwy. 12N in Sturgis. All are welcome to join the chorus including musicians and choirs. King Family Reunion Oct. 7 The descendants of Ben and Annie Franks King will have their annual reunion at the Chester Community Center on Sunday, Oct. 7. Civil War Round Table The Golden Triangle Civil War Round Table will meet on October 9, at the Golden Triangle Planning & Development Bldg., 106 Miley Road, Starkville. Refreshments at 6:30. Meeting begins at 7 p.m. Pam Sanfilippo, NPS Historian, U. S. Grant National Historic Site, will talk on the topic “Lessons Learned: Ulysses S. Grant & the War with Mexico.” Visitors welcomed.

American Legion meeting Oct. 8 The American Legion will meet October 8 at 6 p.m. at the American Legion building. They meet the second Tuesday of every month.

M/M Choctaw County Pageant Registration Deadline Oct. 9 The 2012 M/M Choctaw County Pageant registration deadline is Monday, October 8. Practice is also the October 8 from 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Ty Cobb Auditorium in Ackerman. All forms, fees and photogenic pictures must be turned in at this time. The pageant will be October 20 at 6 p.m. at the Ty Cobb.

Health Fair Oct. 9 Choctaw County Farm Bureau is sponsoring a Health Fair on October 9 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Choctaw County Community Center in Ackerman. Open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.

Choctaw County Farm Bureau Annual Supper Oct. 9 The Choctaw County Farm Bureau will host their Annual Supper on October 9 at 6 p.m. at the Choctaw County Community Center in Ackerman. All Choctaw County Farm Bureau members are invited to attend.

Shooting Sports Training Oct. 19-20 4-H is offering training for adults interested in becoming certified 4-H Shooting Sports instructors. Training will be held October 19-20 in Marion County or November 9-10 in Lee County. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age. M/M Choctaw County Pageant Oct. 20 The M/M Choctaw County Pageant will be October 20 at 6 p.m. at the Ty Cobb Auditorium in Ackerman.

Chamber of Commerce Annual Reception Oct. 25 The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce Annual Reception will be held Thursday, October 25 at 6 pm at the Community Center in Ackerman. Celebrating 25 years of service to Choctaw County. Tickets will go on sale after October 1. $10 for Chamber members and $12 for Non-Chamber members. For more info. call 285-3778.

Spooktacular Parade and Trunk-or-Treat Oct. 30 The Spooktacular Parade and Trunk-or-Treat will be held Tuesday, October 30. It is hosted by the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce. Parade begins at 6 pm at the walking track pavilion in Ackerman with the Trunk-or-Treat immediately following in the Main Street parking lot. Christmas Open House Nov. 8 Christmas Open House will be held Thursday, November 8. Hours will be set by each individual participating Chamber business with the Open House ending by 8 pm. Christmas Parade plans announced The Town of Ackerman would like to announce plans for the 2012 Christmas Parade. This year’s theme will be A Picture Perfect Christmas. It will be held in downtown Ackerman on Thursday, December 6, beginning at 6 p.m. Other information will follow in the weeks ahead.
