Ms. Linda Joyce Black September 17, 2012 Funeral service for Linda Joyce Black, 63, will be held at Enon Cumberlan Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, Ms on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman. Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Ray Lathem will officiate.
Native of Choctaw County, Mrs. Black was a retired school teacher. She was a member of Enon Cumberlan Presbyterian Church. She died on September 17, 2012 at her residence in Ackerman, Ms.
Survivors include husband, Frank Black of Ackerman; son, Brandon Black of Ackerman; daughters, Lacee Bruce of Ackerman and Vicki Williams of Franklin, TN; brother, David McKnight of Tampa, FL; sisters, Merlin Smith of Porter, TX and Sharon Stevens of Ackerman; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, PO Box 294, Ackerman, Ms 39735. Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thomas H. Graves Mathiston, MS
Mr. Thomas H. Graves, 75, died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 11 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Mathiston with burial in Blythe Creek Cemetery in Choctaw County. Rev. Wade Stevens and Rev. Danny Irvin officiated. Visitation was at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora.
Mr. Graves was a retired Planner for UnitedTechnologies of Columbus for 39 years. He was amember of First Baptist Church in Mathiston and an Air National Guard veteran. He also served as a deacon at East End Baptist Church in Columbus and Blythe Creek Baptist Church for several years.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, GloriaCrowley Graves of Mathiston; daughter, Teresa (Col. Jim) Powell of Prattville, AL; step daughter, Debra (Tony) Adams of Greenwood, MS; step son, Donnie Hall of Ackerman; 2 grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Powell; 4 step grandchildren, Justin and Nicole Kemp, Natalie Duckworth, T. J. Hall; 5 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Zachary Powell, Joshua Powell, Josh Duckworth, Justin Kemp, Larry McClain, Ricky Young. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Gary Jackson Sunday School Class.

John Thomas Thompson, 80 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS.
Visitation was Friday, September 14, 2012 from 6-8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services were Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 10 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Tommy Gillon officiating. Interment was in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mr. Thompson was born October 6, 1931 in Choctaw County, MS to the late Winston Dewitt and Laura Gladney Thompson. He moved to Columbus 52 years ago from Ackerman, MS and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from United Insurance after ten years of service as an Insurance Agent. Mr. Thompson loved fishing, farming, horseback riding and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and Western movies.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brothers, Richard Thompson, Dewitt Thompson, Leon Thompson; and sister, Hilda Mae Whitmire.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Geraline “Jeri” Campbell Thompson, Columbus, MS; son, Winston (Janice) Thompson, Columbus, MS; granddaughter, Laura Thompson (Landon) Hutchinson; and sister, Martha Lee McGee, McCool, MS.
