Pioneer to hold Job Fair

Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw is preparing for the new hospital in more ways than one. The new hospital in Choctaw County is currently under construction but Pioneer is looking for people to fill job openings.

Lauren Williams, hospital administrator, said that construction of the new hospital is moving quickly and “will be here before we know it.” With that said, Pioneer is “excited and wants to get new, qualified staff ready to do and hired,” according to Williams.

To help have new staff in place, Pioneer will hold a Job Fair on Thursday, August 16 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Choctaw County Community Center in Ackerman.

Candidates are encouraged to dress professionally, bring their resumes and be ready for on site interviews. The following jobs are currently open: RN’s, LPN’s and CAN’s for all shifts at the hospital, nursing home and new senior car unit, Activities coordinator for new senior care unit, Master’s Level Social Worker for new senior car unit, Clinical Community Educator, part-time Maintenance assistant, Respiratory therapists, MLT and MT’s and Human Resources Coordinator.

Williams said the new senior care unit described is the new inpatient geri-psych unit that will open October 1 at the current hospital. Williams said the 10 bed geri-psych unit was open prior to Pioneer’s lease takeover and they are reopening the unit. “We would love to fill the jobs with people from Choctaw County and surrounding counties to help with economic development in the community,” said Williams about hiring candidates for the open positions.

She is excited about “getting new people in the pipeline” before the new hospital opens and ready to get everyone in place. Not only is Pioneer excited about new hires but Williams said they are currently working on recruitment of new providers and excited that the new doctor, Dr. Terry O’Malia, is in town.

Williams said the Job Fair on August 16 is not limited to the listed positions. Anyone interested in any positions with Pioneer is encouraged to apply.

“It’s not limited to these openings. Always get your resume in, you never know when there is an opening,” said Williams. For more information about Pioneer Community Hospital of Ackerman visit
