John Scott, assistant director to Economic Development, and his family are moving on to new opportunities and new adventures. Scott and his family are leaving Ackerman for Georgia. He accepted a job with the Brunswick Georgia Economic Development Authority where he begins work this week.
“It has been my pleasure to work in Choctaw County, but the time has come for me to move on. When the search for the new Chamber of Commerce Director began, I decided that it might be a good idea for me to explore what other employment options are available. After some searching and applying at various economic development organizations, I have been offered and have accepted a position at the Brunswick Georgia Economic Development Authority as a Project Manager. I will be working with specific economic development prospects, developing marketing strategies/materials, and working to promote the area to film studios,” said Scott.
“My time in Choctaw County has been one of learning, growth, and enjoyment. I’ve learned a lot working with Nick (Walters) and feel fortunate to have worked alongside Donna (McKay). I feel Choctaw County has a tremendous amount of potential and numerous strengths and I have faith the Economic Development Foundation Board will choose a candidate for the Chamber Director position who can take Choctaw County to a new level of economic prosperity,” he continued.
“I will begin work in Georgia on August 8, 2012 and will be back for the arrival of a new addition to our family around August 15 and then we will be on our way back to Georgia shortly thereafter. Leaving is always a bittersweet experience, but I will always remember the time in my life that I spent in Choctaw County with great fondness. I look forward to hearing about all of the great things that are coming to Choctaw County.”
“Thank you again for all of your support and for making me and my family feel so welcome in your community,” said Scott.
