Concord Baptist Church 175th Anniversary August 12 Concord Baptist Church will celebrate its 175th Anniversary on Sunday, August 12 from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The celebration will be all day with former pastors and State Representatives speaking, singing by The Reed Brothers and Joyful Noise and also dinner on the ground. Joyful Noise Quartet in concert August 12 The Joyful Noise Quartet of Ackerman will be in concert at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Bradley, just west of Highway 12, on Sunday, August 12 at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Adult Basic Cooking Workshop August 13-15 10:00-12:00 each day at Choctaw County Extension Office. Participants need to attend all three workshops. Pam Awad, Nutrition Educator, will teach about smart shopping and planning, putting the fresh in you food, freezer meals, making baby food, mixes that will save money and time, saute’ prep and cooking techniques, time management, making homemade cornbread and salad dressings. Participants will also begin a personal cookbook folder. Class is limited to six adults. To register, call 285-6337. There is no charge for this workshop.

QUWF Banquet August 18 The 2012 Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation Banquet Choctaw Founding Chapter 10 will be held Saturday, August 18 at the Choctaw County Community Center. Doors open at 6 pm with the meal being served at 7 pm. There will be a seafood buffet and an auction. Membership for one adult is $55 and includes: membership, meal, and $20 raffle ticket. Membership for two adults is $70 and includes: membership, two meals, and $20 raffle ticket. Youth memberships are also available for $15. A lump of clay in a potter’s hand can become a beautiful, useful vessel. Lee Ann Williamson, Executive Director of Christian World Missions will use the potter’s wheel to illustrate not only how to make pottery, but also in what ways the techniques apply to how we are shaped throughout life.
