On Friday, July 20st, 2012, the Mississippi Distinguished Young Woman Program recognized Alison Cooper with a $500 scholarship for being one of the top five physically fit participants in the program.

Cooper was selected along with Meridian, Pike County, Greene County, and Neshoba County.

In each program, participants are evaluated in five categories: Interview, Talent, Scholastics, Self-Expression, and Fitness. A total of $48,500 in cash scholarships was awarded at this year’s state program.

Mississippi Distinguished Young Women also chose Susan Shurden as a Top 5 Volunteer. On the committee, Susan serves as event coordinator and works with the girls on interview skills. She is truly an asset to the program.

Other committee members include Ginny Lucas, Courtney Coleman, Tinker Forrester, Marina Loper, and JoAnne Reid. All members of the 20th Century Club play a vital part in program.

On behalf of the 20th Century Club, a special thank you is extended to Choctaw County. Without the support of the entire county, this program would not be a great success!
