Tomatoes 101 July 26 Tomatoes 101 will be presented via interactive video Thursday, July 26 at noon at the Choctaw County Extension Office. This program is free and open to the public. Summer Reading Program

July 26 Children are invited to the Summer Reading Program at the Choctaw County Library every Thursday in July from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.

On July 26, the last week of the Summer Reading Program, children will enjoy “Pajamarama: Bedtime Stories.” Everyone is invited to wear pajamas that are age appropriate and appropriate to wear in public. Children will enjoy creating paper lanterns and milk and cookies as a snack. Books for this day are “The Magic Pillow,” “Llama, Llama Red Pajama” and “Goodnight Moon.”

Gospel Singing July 28 Everyone is invited to a Gospel Singing at Stewart Fire Department on July 28 at 7 p.m. featuring “The McMillians” of New Albany, “Joyful Noise” of Greenwood and “The Crouchs” of Winona. Come join us for a great night of gospel music, food and fellowship. Admission is a love offering for groups singing. Concessions available. For more information call Angie at 662-418-6454.

Back to School Field Day July 28 The Choctaw County High School Alumni Association will sponsor the 4th Annual Back to School Field Day on July 28 at the Tom Glasgow Park in Ackerman. All school-aged children along with their parents are invited to come out and enjoy unlimited fun and lots of games and activities. Free school supplies, books and food will be given away. Parents make sure an adult is with your child to sign the consent form to participate. For more information contact Dr. I.D. EHS 50’s reunion July 28 On Saturday July 28 at 2 pm, there will be a 50’s get together at Eupora First Baptist Church Family Life Center to reminisce about old times and to talk about the last 50+ years. This Includes classes of 1950-1959 or even if you didn’t graduate. Bring yourself and spouse or guest and some finger food. Cold drinks will be furnished by the committee. Ignite Music Workshop July 28 Ackerman Church of God will be hosting a Music Workshop, “Ignite” on Saturday, July 28 9AM-1PM. This workshop will “spark your passion and ignite your church”. This is open to all participants of the church Music & Media Departments. Various topics and sessions will be held including: Vocal techniques, maximizing the volume of your choir and praise teams, praise bands and musicians, worship from a Pastor’s perspective, the worship-leading choir, sound and media in the small to medium churches. The cost is $10/person if you pre- register before Friday, June 29, or you may pay $15/person at the door the day of the conference. A lunch is provided in the cost. Benefit for Sandra Smith August 4 A benefit for Sandra Smith, battling cancer, will be held August 4 at the Woodman of the World in Eupora at 11 a.m. Come out and enjoy an auction, music, a cake sale, food, and raffles.

A camouflage Mossberg 100 ATR 30-06 with a 4x16x44 tactical scope, and a 9mm Luger pistol will be given away at the benefit.

Sandra Perrigan Smith, is the twin sister to Sara Abbott and the wife of Buddy Smith. She is now faced with a new round of cancer.

Concord Baptist Church 175th Anniversary Aug 12 Concord Baptist Church will celebrate its 175th Anniversary on Sunday, August 12 from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The celebration will be all day with former pastors and State Representatives speaking, singing by The Reed Brothers and Joyful Noise and also dinner on the ground. Bring your families, friends, your favorite food and a have a great time fellowshipping and praising the Lord for our 175 years of ministry and history. Roger Griffith, pastor.

Joyful Noise Quartet in concert August 12 The Joyful Noise Quartet of Ackerman will be in concert at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Bradley, just west of Highway 12, on Sunday, August 12 at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. There will be ice cream after the concert. No admission charge but a love offering will be received.

Basic Cooking Skills August 13-15 ADULT cooking skills and nutrition education classes, perfect for newly marrieds, new parents, or anyone wanting to brush up on cooking skills and current nutrition topics will be held August 13, 14 and 15. Program topics will include: Sharp Shopping, Smart Planning, Putting the fresh in your food, Freezer meals, Making baby food, Mixes that will save money and time (Master mix, Chili Mix, Cream soup mix, seasoning blends). There is no charge for this workshop. Dates and times of programs are August 13, 14 and 15 at the Choctaw Extension Office from 10am-12:00 am. Deadline for sign-up is August 10. Seating is limited to six adults so call the Choctaw County Extension Office at 285-6337 to reserve your spot! Classes will be taught by Pam Awad, Extension Nutrition Education.

Financial Management Workshops August 20 A financial management workshop will be held Monday, August 20 from 10:30 until 12:00 at Broken Wings Ministry in Ackerman. Mary Linda Moore, Family Resource Management Area Agent with the MSU Extension Service, will conduct the workshops the third month of each month. These are free and open to the public. We need at least 10 participants to hold the workshops, so call 285-6337 to register.

NAACP meeting August 20, 6 p.m. The NAACP of Choctaw Co. meeting will be held on Monday, August 20 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Herman UMC in Ackerman. Please come out and attend our meeting! New members are welcome. The meeting is held on the third Monday of each month.

Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting Group Location: Choctaw County Extension Office Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting group meets every Tuesday from 9 a.m.- Noon. Beginners through experts are invited to attend. Bring your needles and yarn. Want to help out with a community service project, but can’t attend? Contact us at 285-6337 for other ways you can help.

Homecoming Services August 5 Homecoming services at Old Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church will be held at 11 a.m. on August 5. Gerald Watts of Petal will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to attend.
