AES gearing up for new school year

By Glen Blaine, AES Principal

I want to welcome everyone back to a new school year and hope that everyone had a wonderful summer break.

We will hold our Open House on Wednesday, August 8th from 5:00 until 7:00. All parents and students are invited to attend and many bring their school supplies to their homeroom during the event. There will be tables in the hall to check homeroom, check bus routes, sign up for After School Program, and PTO sign up sheets. The following day will be the first day of school on Thursday, August 9, 2012.

A few important items: Students should arrive to the school between 7:10 and 7:30. Instruction begins quickly and a tardy student interrupts the classroom setting.

The car rider line bell is at 2:45 and the students are loaded as quickly as possible. Parents do not need to come into the building to check students out at the end of the day to avoid the car rider line. If you do not like to wait, I recommend that you arrive at around 2:50 to 2:55.

If your child needs to change their normal transportation routine, I ask that you send a note with the date or come into the office and fill out a request. (Ex. – If a child is changing from the bus to a car rider or if a bus rider is getting off at grandmother’s house instead of their house.)

All visitors must report to the office. (If you are not an Ackerman Elementary School employee, you must report to the office once you enter campus.)

We had a very productive year during the 2011-2012 school year and I look for the 2012-2013 school year to be even better. The education of every child is a priority at Ackerman Elementary School and with each parent/guardians help, there is no limit as to what can be accomplished. Please contact the school at 285-4052 if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you, Glen C. Blaine
