Summer Reading Program July 19 Children are invited to the Summer Reading Program at the Choctaw County Library every Thursday in July from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. The third week, July 19, everyone will “Cuddle UP With Sandman Stories.” Everyone is invited to bring their favorite pillow (limit one per child). Please bring the pillow in a bag where it can be set aside during instructional time. The children will learn how to make a dream catcher and have cheese and crackers with kool-aid for snack. They will enjoy the books “How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?” “The Goodnight Sleep Tight Book” and “Goodnight Moon.

Children will enjoy creating paper lanterns and milk and cookies as a snack. Books for this day are “The Magic Pillow,” “Llama, Llama Red Pajama” and “Goodnight Moon.”
Back to School Field Day July 28 The Choctaw County High School Alumni Association will sponsor the 4th Annual Back to School Field Day on July 28 at the Tom Glasgow Park in Ackerman. All school-aged children along with their parents are invited to come out and enjoy unlimited fun and lots of games and activities. Free school supplies, books and food will be given away. EHS 50’s reunion On Saturday July 28 at 2 pm, there will be a 50’s get together at Eupora First Baptist Church Family Life Center to reminisce about old times and to talk about the last 50+ years. This Includes classes of 1950-1959 or even if you didn’t graduate. Bring yourself and spouse or guest and some finger food. Cold drinks will be furnished by the committee. Ignite Music Workshop July 28 Ackerman Church of God will be hosting a Music Workshop, “Ignite” on Saturday, July 28 9AM-1PM. This workshop will “spark your passion and ignite your church”. This is open to all participants of the church Music & Media Departments. Various topics and sessions will be held including: Vocal techniques, maximizing the volume of your choir and praise teams, praise bands and musicians, worship from a Pastor’s perspective, the worship-leading choir, sound and media in the small to medium churches. Joyful Noise Quartet in concert August 12 The Joyful Noise Quartet of Ackerman will be in concert at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Bradley, just west of Highway 12, on Sunday, August 12 at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. There will be ice cream after the concert. No admission charge but a love offering will be received.

Spay/Panhandle community meeting July 18 The Spay/Panhandle Community organization invites all citizens to our monthly meetings. They are held the third Wednesday of each month at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in the Spay Community. The next meeting will be July 18 at 6 p.m. The citizens of the community participated in the Community Circles for Turning the Tide on Poverty. As a result of those meetings, several action plans were identified. One of the plans included efforts to address health and wellness issues with the implantation of a walking trail and other community activities. Benefit for Sandra Smith August 4 A benefit for Sandra Smith, battling cancer, will be held August 4 at the Woodman of the World in Eupora at 11 a.m. Come out and enjoy an auction, music, a cake sale, food, and raffles. A camouflage Mossberg 100 ATR 30-06 with a 4x16x44 tactical scope, and a 9mm Luger pistol will be given away at the benefit. Sandra Perrigan Smith, is the twin sister to Sara Abbott and the wife of Buddy Smith. She is now faced with a new round of cancer.
