AHS Cheer attends camp

The Ackerman High School Cheerleaders attended NCA summer cheer camp on June 1- 4 at Millsaps College. While attending camp, the squad received all superior ribbons, a spirit stick each night, and a technical certificate for jumps.

The girls also brought home the trophy for Chant Champion along with a bid to the NCA National Competition in Dallas, TX.

During camp, the NCA instructors look for cheerleaders that excel tumbling, stunts, jumps, dance, and leadership to nominate for All American cheerleaders. From AHS, nine girls were nominated for All American cheerleader. The nine girls nominated for this honor were Alison Cooper, Paige Triplett, BaiLee Clark, Laiken Toombs, Kelli Aurell, Dayna Presley, Haley Lucas, Emily Robison, and Macy Clement. The following girls were selected as NCA All American cheerleaders: Alison Cooper, Kelli Aurell, Dayna Presley, and Haley Lucas.

The camp instructors also look for girls that would make a great addition to their staff after high school. Kelli Aurell and Dayna Presley were both given applications from the camp instructor to tryout to become part of the NCA staff upon completion of high school.

The squad members are Alison Cooper (captain), Kelli Aurell, BaiLee Clark, Dayna Presley, Laiken Toombs, Paige Triplett, Macy Clement, Rachel King, Haley Lucas, Emily Robison, Kaytlyn Baxter, Leah Fondren, Dakota Deaton, Katalin Jones, and Alex Parish. The mascot is Bridgett Robinson. The squad is coached by Mistie Thomas.
