Ms. Brenda Nunn June 25, 2012 Funeral services for Ms. Brenda Nunn, 63, were held at 11a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in McCool, MS. Rev. Fred Davenport, Rev. Greg Chamblee, and Rev. Owen Gordon, Jr. officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery in McCool.
A resident of McCool, Ms. Nunn was a retired assistant school teacher. She was also a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. Ms. Brenda Nunn died Monday, June 25, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Survivors include mother, Johnnie Mae Stevenson of McCool; daughters, Amy Deason of Flowood, MS; Donna Shea of Ackerman; and Emily Starnes of Louisville; sister, Linda Morgan of McCool; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Leven Lee Smith June 13, 2012 Graveside services for Mr. Leven Lee Smith, 81, were held at 11:00 a.m. June 19, 2012 at New Hope Cemetery. Brother John Work officiated. A resident of Louisville Mr. Smith was a laborer. Mr. Smith died June 13, 2012 at Winston County Medical Center.
Survivors include sisters Bessie Wells of Louisville, and Evergreen McDonald of Noxapater, Brothers Earvin Shoumaker of Noxapater and Jimmie Cole of Louisville and a host of nieces nephews and other relatives and friends

Mr. Walter “Big Brent” Eaves June 24, 2012 Mr. Walter “Big Brent” Eaves, 33, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, in Winston County, MS. Funeral services were held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, June 27, at Old Mars Hill Pentecostal Church, with Rev. Lonoia Burks officiating. Interment was in Old Mars Hill Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Eaves was born October 29, 1978, in Louisville, MS. He was an employee of Gookin Quick Lube, and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Zackary Eaves and Brock Eaves, both of Philadelphia, MS; his parents, Walter and Betty Manning Eaves of Philadelphia, MS; and two brothers, Wendell Eaves and Phillip Eaves, both of Gautier, MS.
Pallbearers were Richard Watkins, Brent Woods, Michael Woods, Hubo Boatner, Casey Boatner, Donnie Boatner, Dammon Sciple, and Danny Sciple.

Mabel Barrett Palmer June 14 Mabel Barrett Palmer, a social worker noted for her leadership in rehabilitation of the mentally ill, died June 14 at Poydras Home in New Orleans. She was 92. Born in Louisville, Miss., and raised in Noxapater, Miss., she had lived in New Orleans since 1951. She was a deacon at St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by loving cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 30, at 10 A.M. at Noxapater Baptist Church, with Rev. Trent Bilbo officiating. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater.
