Summer Reading Program July 5 Children are invited to the Summer Reading Program at the Choctaw County Library every Tuesday in July from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. For the first week, on July 5, children will “Light Up the Night with Lantern Tales.” Everyone is invited to bring a flashlight for star gazing and searing. Children will create their own mobile constellations and enjoy a snack of s’mores and kool-aid. They will enjoy the books “Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me,” “The Night is Like an Animal” and “Goodnight Moon.”

Cooper Family Reunion July 7 The Riley L. Bryon Cooper Family Reunion will be held again this year at Dorroh Lake off Hwy. 9 north of Bellefontaine on Saturday, July 7 from 9 am until. Family and friends are invited to attend. Bring a main dish or dessert. The reunion area is air conditioned and the pool will be open. Ackerman United Methodist Church Hosts Welcome Reception for New Pastor July 8 Ackerman United Methodist Church would like to invite the community to a welcome reception for their new pastor, Rev. Ed Saunders, and his family. The reception will be held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glendal Reid on Sunday, July 8, from 4 until 5 o’clock. The community is invited to join church members in welcoming the Saunders family to the Ackerman/Choctaw County community.

VBS at Providence Baptist July 8-11 Providence Baptist Church invites children of all ages to their “Amazing Wonders Aviation” Vacation Bible School from July 8-11 from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Children from babies to age 20 are encouraged to come. Bro. Randle Poss, pastor.

Revival July 8-11 Bluff Springs Baptist Church in Choctaw County and Pastor Kevin Black invite the public to worship with them in revival July 8-11. The visiting speaker will be the Rev. Jim Rhodes, pastor of Clear Springs Baptist Church.

The Sunday service begins at 6 p.m. and Monday-Wednesday services begin at 7 p.m.

VBS at New Haven Baptist Church July 8-12 VBS – New Haven Baptist Church. Join us at the INCREDIWORLD AMAZEMENT PARK, July 8 – 12, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Commencement on July 13 at 6:00 p.m.

Summer Reading Program July 12 Children are invited to the Summer Reading Program at the Choctaw County Library every Tuesday in July from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.

On Tuesday, July 12 children will learn about “Things That Go Bump In The Night.” Everyone is invited to bring their favorite bed time stuffed animal (limit one per child). Please bring the animal in a bag where it can be set aside during instructional time. They will create a monster mask and enjoy dirt and worms and lemonade for snack. Books for this week are “The Great Monster Hunt,” “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Goodnight Moon.”

Farmers Market July 13 The Choctaw County Farmers Market will be held Friday, July 13 from 3:00-7:00 pm at the corner of Main and Commerce Streets in Ackerman. Anyone who would like to sell fresh fruits or vegetables should contact Juli Hughes, County Director, at the Choctaw County Extension Office in the Courthouse Annex or call 285-6337, email jhughes@ext.msstate.edu. There is no vendor fee to set up.

Revival Services July 15-18 Revival services will be held at Salem Independent Methodist Church July 15-18. Sunday services will be at 11a.m. and 6p.m. Mon.-Wed. services will be at 7p.m. The guest speaker is Rev. Brent Danielson of Lagrange, Michigan. Rev. Jim Reed, pastor and church family invite you to attend every service and be blessed with good gospel singing, preaching, and fellowship.

NAACP meeting July 16, 6 p.m. The NAACP of Choctaw Co. meeting will be held on Monday, July 16 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Herman UMC in Ackerman. Please come out and attend our meeting! New members are welcome. The meeting is held on the third Monday of each month.

Grapes & Muscadines July 19 A program on Grapes and Muscadines for Mississippi will be presented via interactive video Thursday, July 19 at noon at the Choctaw County Extension Office. This program is free and open to the public.

The third week, July 19, everyone will “Cuddle UP With Sandman Stories.” Everyone is invited to bring their favorite pillow (limit one per child). Please bring the pillow in a bag where it can be set aside during instructional time. The children will learn how to make a dream catcher and have cheese and crackers with kool-aid for snack. They will enjoy the books “How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?” “The Goodnight Sleep Tight Book” and “Goodnight Moon.”

Tomatoes 101 July 26 Tomatoes 101 will be presented via interactive video Thursday, July 26 at noon at the Choctaw County Extension Office. This program is free and open to the public.

Summer Reading Program July 26 Children are invited to the Summer Reading Program at the Choctaw County Library every Tuesday in July from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. On July 26, the last week of the Summer Reading Program, children will enjoy “Pajamarama: Bedtime Stories.” Everyone is invited to wear pajamas that are age appropriate and appropriate to wear in public. Children will enjoy creating paper lanterns and milk and cookies. Books for this day are “The Magic Pillow,” “Llama, Llama Red Pajama” and “Goodnight Moon.”

EHS 50’s get together July 28 On Saturday July 28 at 2 pm, there will be a 50’s get together at Eupora First Baptist Church Family Life Center to reminisce about old times and to talk about the last 50+ years. This Includes classes of 1950-1959 or even if you didn’t graduate. Bring yourself and spouse or guest and some finger food. Cold drinks will be furnished by the committee. Ignite Music Workshop July 28 Ackerman Church of God will be hosting a Music Workshop, “Ignite” on Saturday, July 28 9AM-1PM. This workshop will “spark your passion and ignite your church”. This is open to all participants of the church Music & Media Departments. Various topics and sessions will be held including: Vocal techniques, maximizing the volume of your choir and praise teams, praise bands and musicians, worship from a Pastor’s perspective, the worship-leading choir, sound and media in the small to medium churches. The cost is $10/person if you pre- register before Friday, June 29, or you may pay $15/person at the door the day of the conference. A lunch is provided in the cost. Stories of the past July 10 Come and enjoy “Stories from Our Past” every 2nd Tuesday at French Camp Presbyterian Church. On July 10, from 12 – 2 p.m., our Fun, Food and Fellowship event, highlighting French Camp History, will enjoy speaker Kay McNair Johnson discuss “Time Capsule.” A catered lunch (for a $2 donation) begins at noon, followed by our speaker. NAACP meeting August 20, 6 p.m. The NAACP of Choctaw Co. meeting will be held on Monday, August 20 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Herman UMC in Ackerman. Please come out and attend our meeting! New members are welcome. The meeting is held on the third Monday of each month.

Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting Group Location: Choctaw County Extension Office Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting group meets every Tuesday from 9 a.m.- Noon. Beginners through experts are invited to attend. Bring your needles and yarn. Want to help out with a community service project, but can’t attend? Contact us at 285-6337 for other ways you can help.
