AARP driver safety program planned

From press reports

An AARP driver safety class is being offered especially for retired educators during July and August for just $5, a savings of up to $9 off the normal fee.

Also, would you like to save money on your vehicle insurance? Mississippi law requires all vehicle insurance carriers to offer a discount on premiums to qualified graduates aged 55 and older of approved courses such as the AARP Driver Safety Program.

The half-day course is a classroom driver refresher course for drivers aged 50 and older. However, drivers of any age may attend. The course explains the changes that occur in the aging process and tips for handling these changes. It also serves as a refresher for general driving rules and conditions, and provides an update on driving laws.

A class is scheduled at the Webster County Extension Office at 16 E. Fox Ave. in Eupora on July 9. The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Course materials cost is $12 for AARP members (must have card) and $14 for non-members. Retired educators and school personnel, $5.

Call 258-3971 to register or be there 15 minutes before class time on July 9.
