The Choctaw County Board of Supervisors opened bids to re-roof the current Choctaw County hospital in their June 18 board meeting.

District 3 Supervisor Chris McIntire, also board president, attended the meeting by phone. District 4 Supervisor David Carter, also vice president, led the meeting.

Maxey Peterson with Pryor & Morrow opened the sealed bids at 10 a.m. The lowest bid was from Amerson Roofing for $274,800 with the second lowest from Nathan E. Daniels Roofing for $284,800.

The board approved to take the bids under advisement.

Other bids submitted were: Dixie Roofing $362,475, Graham Roofing $305,923, Norman Enterprise $332,000, Copper Top Sheet Metal $289,950, Mandel’s $344,812, E. Cornell Malone $294,900, Independent Roofing $331,756 and Cross Roofing $285,400. Also in the June 18 meeting, Peterson presented the board with a set of building plans or “footprint” for the new medical office building that included the physical therapy area as requested from Pioneer Health Systems.

The board gave Carter, board vice president, to sign the document as requested. Lauren Williams, Pioneer Hospital of Choctaw administrator, also signed the document.

The “footprint” will allow Pryor & Morrow engineers to begin work to submit to the board for approval.

While discussing the construction of the new hospital and medical clinic, Peterson said PHS recently requested a price to install wireless internet at both the hospital and medical office clinic. He said it would cost $18,784 for the hospital and $4,466 for the medical office building and that price quote is good until June 30. No action was taken at this time.

The supervisors also approved: Travel for the tax assessor and deputy for required training to be certified.

Travel for both Justice Court judges for training.

To accept the resignation of Traci Mongeon as MSU Extension 4-H Agent and to fill the vacant position with the same level of funding and benefits as budgeted. The county pays a portion of this position’s salary.

The Choctaw County Board of Supervisors approved the following in their June 11 meeting: Travel for Lori Fiebig, tax assessor, on July 15-19.

Solid Waste postage request, deletions and adjustments.

To resolve their uniform contract with UniFirst and give the board attorney authority to write a letter to them including that the deficiencies have not been resolved and that the contract would be terminated on July 3.

To pay construction invoices for the hospital for $455,954.80 and $357,118.30.
