Prepare to DREAM BIG for the Summer Reading Program at the Choctaw County Library that begins July 5. The reading program will be held every Tuesday in July from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Choctaw County Library in Ackerman.
For the first week, on July 5, children will “Light Up the Night with Lantern Tales.” Everyone is invited to bring a flashlight for star gazing and searing. Children will create their own mobile constellations and enjoy a snack of s’mores and kool-aid. They will enjoy the books “Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me,” “The Night is Like an Animal” and “Goodnight Moon.”
On Tuesday, July 12 children will learn about “Things That Go Bump In The Night.” Everyone is invited to bring their favorite bed time stuffed animal (limit one per child). Please bring the animal in a bag where it can be set aside during instructional time. They will create a monster mask and enjoy dirt and worms and lemonade for snack. Books for this week are “The Great Monster Hunt,” “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Goodnight Moon.”
The third week, July 19, everyone will “Cuddle UP With Sandman Stories.” Everyone is invited to bring their favorite pillow (limit one per child). Please bring the pillow in a bag where it can be set aside during instructional time. The children will learn how to make a dream catcher and have cheese and crackers with kool-aid for snack. They will enjoy the books “How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?” “The Goodnight Sleep Tight Book” and “Goodnight Moon.”
On July 26, the last week of the Summer Reading Program, children will enjoy “Pajamarama: Bedtime Stories.” Everyone is invited to wear pajamas that are age appropriate and appropriate to wear in public.
Children will enjoy creating paper lanterns and milk and cookies as a snack. Books for this day are “The Magic Pillow,” “Llama, Llama Red Pajama” and “Goodnight Moon.”
