MPB encourages Summer Reading

The Mississippi Public Broadcasting Company motivated and encouraged children in Weir to read.

MPB joined with the Weir Library to present a summer reading program, on June 19, to children attending the I Can Weir Child Care Learning Center and children attending the Summer Reading Program at the Weir Library.

For the program, approximately 30 children were entertained with MPB staff and learned about the TV show “The Electric Company.”

Children danced, learned about the theme ‘Dream Big’, listened stories and completed several activities.

Each child was given a book bag, one book and other materials from the MBP staff for participating in the program.

Some of the activities included drawing what they would like to be when they grow up, creating bookmarks and answering questions to receive a free book.

The Weir Library Summer Reading program was held every Tuesday in June at the library.
