General Farmer’s Market Food Safety Training offered

The General Farmer’s Market Food Safety Training is a two hour workshop designed to teach the basics of food safety and regulations for processing foods in Mississippi. Training will cover food handling, sanitation and hygiene/health, fresh cut fruits and vegetables, temperature of sampled foods. Whether you have a business that you wish to expand, enter new market avenues, or you are just in the planning stages, the General Farmer’s Market Food Safety Training will be helpful to you. The training will be offered at several locations across the state. This training will qualify you for processing foods that can be sold in local, certified farmers’ markets in Mississippi. This training does not allow you to sell elsewhere or ship interstate. A General Farmer’s Market Food Safety Training is required for all processed food vendors that attend Mississippi Certified Farmers’ Markets. However, if you have an updated and valid ServSafe Certification from the Mississippi State Department of Health, that will suffice. Registration will begin 30 minutes before the training session.

The training session will last approximately 2 hours. This training session will be free of charge but pre-registration is suggested as seating is limited.You must attend the entire class to receive your certification.
