NARFE to Meet June 28 The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association will meet on Thursday, June 28 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Highway 12 East in Starkville. The guest speaker will be Chip Reynolds who is the Mississippi District Office Staff member for Congressman Greg Harper. Mr. Reynolds has been extremely active in the Mississippi Republican Party and has worked for Senator Trent Lott, Lt. Governor Amy Tuck, Lt. Governor Phil Bryant. He has an extensive background in education and politics. The meeting starts at 11 a.m. All active and retired federal employees and guests are encouraged to attend.

For the first week, on July 5, children will “Light Up the Night with Lantern Tales.” Everyone is invited to bring a flashlight for star gazing and searing. Children will create their own mobile constellations and enjoy a snack of s’mores and kool-aid. They will enjoy the books “Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me,” “The Night is Like an Animal” and “Goodnight Moon.”
Cooper Family Reunion July 7 The Riley L. Bryon Cooper Family Reunion will be held again this year at Dorroh Lake off Hwy. 9 north of Bellefontaine on Saturday, July 7 from 9 am until. Family and friends are invited to attend. Bring a main dish or dessert. The reunion area is air conditioned and the pool will be open. On Tuesday, July 12 children will learn about “Things That Go Bump In The Night.” Everyone is invited to bring their favorite bed time stuffed animal (limit one per child). Please bring the animal in a bag where it can be set aside during instructional time.
They will create a monster mask and enjoy dirt and worms and lemonade for snack. Books for this week are “The Great Monster Hunt,” “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Goodnight Moon.”

Summer Reading Program July 26 Children are invited to the Summer Reading Program at the Choctaw County Library every Tuesday in July from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. On July 26, the last week of the Summer Reading Program, children will enjoy “Pajamarama: Bedtime Stories.” Everyone is invited to wear pajamas that are age appropriate and appropriate to wear in public.
Children will enjoy creating paper lanterns and milk and cookies as a snack. Books for this day are “The Magic Pillow,” “Llama, Llama Red Pajama” and “Goodnight Moon.”
Ignite Music Workshop July 28 Ackerman Church of God will be hosting a Music Workshop, “Ignite” on Saturday, July 28 9AM-1PM. This workshop will “spark your passion and ignite your church”. This is open to all participants of the church Music & Media Departments. Various topics and sessions will be held including: Vocal techniques, maximizing the volume of your choir and praise teams, praise bands and musicians, worship from a Pastor’s perspective, the worship-leading choir, sound and media in the small to medium churches. The cost is $10/person if you pre-register before Friday, June 29, or you may pay $15/person at the door the day of the conference. A lunch is provided in the cost.
