VBS at Fellowship Baptist June 4-8 Vacation Bible School, “The Rescuers” will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, from June 4-8th. VBS begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Friday, June 8th will be Parents’ Night, and we will have a fire truck here for the kids to explore. The church is located at 2335 Old Trace Road, Mathiston. Enon CP VBS June 4-8 Children ages Pre-K through 5th grade are invited to join Enon C P Church for Vacation Bible School. VBS will be held June 4-8, 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. This year’s theme is Sonrise National Park.

Summer Reading at Weir Library June 5 Children pre-school to 6th grade are encouraged to attend the Summer Reading Program at the Weir Library from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. every Tuesday in June. The program is part of “Turning the Tide on Poverty” in cooperation with the Mississippi Library Commission, the Tombigbee Regional Library System, and Weir Library.

VFW meeting June 7 The VFW will meet Thursday, June 7 at 6 p.m. at Pap’s Place in Ackerman.

Bridal Trends 2012 June 7th 12-1 pm at Choctaw County Extension Office in the Courthouse Annex. Lynette McDougald will use fresh flowers, including hydrangea, peonies and lilies along with yard and garden foliages in wedding floral designs. This workshop, presented via interactive video, is free and open to the public.

Benefit for Paul Peacock June 9 Benefit for William “Paul” Peacock for medical expenses for Lymphoma Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Stewart Fire Department. There will be music, food, raffles, cakewalk, etc. A fund has been set up at the Bank of Kilmichael. Come out and support Paul and family. For more information call 662-312-6149.

Memorial/Singing Day at Antioch June 10 The annual Memorial/Singing Day will be held at Antioch United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 10, 2012. The church is located two miles west of Reform on Reform Sturgis Road. Worship service will be at 10:45 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:45 a.m. and then an afternoon of singing at 12:45 p.m. Come join us for a day of worship and praise.

Ray Family Reunion June 10 The decedents of Henry Boyd and Florence Ann Ray are invited to the annual Ray Family Reunion on Sunday, June 10 at the Chester Community Center. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Bring a covered dish and enjoy the food and fellowship with us.

American Legion to meet June 11 The American Legion Post 82 and Auxiliary will meet Monday, June 11 at the American Legion building in Ackerman. A pot luck meal will be served at 6 p.m. with the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Post officers for the coming year will be elected at this meeting. All veterans are invited to attend.

Weir FD to flush hydrants June 11 The Weir Fire Department will be flushing fire hydrants on June 11 from 1p.m. until 4p.m. Please make arrangements for the water to become discolored during this time period. The water will still be safe to use. We would suggest not washing white clothes as they may become stained. This only affects people who receive their water from the Town of Weir.

Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting Group Location: Choctaw County Extension Office Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting group meets every Tuesday from 9 a.m.- Noon. Beginners through experts are invited to attend. Bring your needles and yarn. Want to help out with a community service project, but can’t attend? Contact us at 285-6337 for other ways you can help.

Gospel Singing June 16 Gospel Singing will be held June 16 at 7 p.m. at the Sherwood Community Center featuring By His Grace with Robert Herring, Revelations and Brandy Pennington. Mt. Zion Homecoming June 10 The annual homecoming for Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church will be Sunday, June 10 at 11:00. Guest speaker will be Reverend Owen Gordon, Jr. A potluck lunch will be at the Panhandle Community Center following the service. Come worship and fellowship.
