By Staff Reports

Ellen Graves, a senior majoring in Journalism with a minor in Political Science at the University of Mississippi, has recently joined the Choctaw Plaindealer newspaper team. She will be interning for the summer and will be collecting and writing news stories for Choctaw County. Also, Graves will be managing the Choctaw Plaindealer’s social media accounts.

Graves is from Ackerman, Mississippi and is a 2009 Ackerman High School graduate. While in high school, she was a member of the colorguard, band, chorus and annual staff.

She was also selected as a member of the 2009 Hall of Fame. Graves has been a pharmacy technician at Fred’s Pharmacy since 2008.

Graves is a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi and enjoys volunteering in her spare time. In order to graduate from the honors college, she must write a thesis. Graves will be conducting research on how Twitter is used by the 2012 presidential candidates in their campaigns.

She is really looking forward to writing news stories for the community she loves. She also encourages everyone to follow the Choctaw Plaindealer on Twitter (@Ccplaindealer) or to like the Choctaw Plaindealer’s page on Facebook.
