School trustees handle monthly agenda, issues

The Choctaw County School Board held their regularly scheduled meeting May 14 where they approved a full agenda.

The School Board held a short executive session to discuss a discipline matter. They approved the recommendation from the alternative school administrator.

The roof at French Camp Elementary was discussed and tabled until the board receives further information. A portion of the roof is leaking and the board discussed the submitted bids and how the roof should be repaired.

Several updated board policies are set for the board to review them and approve the updated versions at their next meeting.

Those policies include: -Board Policy Code JCDAB-Drug Testing Policy. In the meeting, the board said the updated policy reduces the number of offenses from three to two. All students involved in extra curricular activities will be randomly tested. Parents must sign a drug testing consent form or the student will not be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities.

-Updated student handbook.

-Board Policy IJ-R (1), IJ-E (1) (2)-Internet policy The School Board approved the adoption of the District FY 2013 Consolidated Federal Programs Application along with the school wide plans for Ackerman Elementary, Ackerman High School, French Camp Elementary and Weir Attendance Center.

They also approved to allow a walking track to be put at the Reform Community Park. The land is 16th section land and is leased by the community.

The AES Flooring Project was approved along with the specifications for quotes for flooring materials, baseboard materials and accessories to complete the project and contract labor. The board also approved for the Business Office to submit specifications to obtain quotes from vendors for this project.

Approved purchase of lawn mower for AHS athletics
