Blood Drive May 24 Pioneer Community Hospital will host a blood drive on Thursday, May 24th from 1 pm–6 pm. The United Blood Services Bloodmobile will be in the hospital parking lot taking donations. Every donor will be given a no charge cholesterol check and will earn points toward rewards from the United Blood Services Rewards Store. Find the hero in you by giving blood. NARFE to Meet May 24 The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association will meet on Thursday, May 24th at the Hilton Garden Inn on Highway 12 East in Starkville at 11:30 a.m. All active and retired federal employees are invited to attend.

Youth Grilling Workshop May 24 Safety Sam says Don’t Barf – play it safe with your grill this summer! Youth ages 8-16 interested in learning how to grill have the opportunity to attend a workshop Thursday, May 24 from 10 am-1 pm at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Participants will also learn about food preparation and food safety and get to sample shishkebobs. Pam Awad, Nutrition Educator, will conduct the workshop. There is no fee. Gospel Singing May 26, 7 p.m. A gospel singing will be held at Stewart Fire Station (Hwy 82, Stewart) on May 26 at 7 p.m. Featured singers will be Heavenly Journey, Chuck Clark, and Joy Card. Everyone is welcome to come join us for a great night of Southern gospel singing, food, and fellowship. Concessions will be available. Free admission but a love offering will be received.

Dobbs Reunion May 26 The 14th Annual DOBBS REUNION will be held on Saturday, May 26, at the home of Ron and Betty Bennett near Weir beginning at 10am.If you are a DOBBS, descended from any DOBBS line, married a DOBBS, went to school or church with a DOBBS, were a neighbor…come on out and join us for a day of fun, food, and fellowship. We would love to hear your stories and memories of the DOBBS family and growing up in Choctaw County. Memorial Service May 27 Clear Springs Baptist Church would like to invite everyone to their Memorial Service on Sunday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will follow in the Fellowship building.

Memorial Service May 27 Salem United Methodist Church (Weir Charge) will hold there annual Memorial Day Service on Sunday, May 27. Service will begin at 11 a.m. with Larry Martin speaking. Lunch will be served so please come and join us for a great day fellowship.

Memorial Day Program May 28 Memorial Day will be observed Monday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at the SSG Tommy Seary Little National Guard Armory in Ackerman. Everyone is invited to come out and join in the remembrance of the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. Refreshments will be served at 10:30 a.m.

VBS May 28-June 1 Please join us for Vacation Bible School at the Ackerman Methodist Church, May 28-June 1, 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Ages 4 years old-6th graders come join the fun as we explore “operation Overboard-Dare to Go Deep with God.” We will have arts and crafts, Bible storytelling, music, outside play, and refreshments. Woodmen Family Cookout June 2 The Woodmen Of The World Lodge 94 of Eupora will host a family cookout for all Woodmen members on Saturday evening, June 2nd at 7 pm. Bring your family for a great meal and entertainment by “Long Way To Go”, a blue grass gospel group from Maben. Members are asked to bring their families and guests for a meal of hamburgers and hot-dogs and need to bring a dessert. Cold drinks and coffee will be furnished by the lodge.

McAdams & Dudley Reunion June 2 The McAdams & Dudley Reunion will be June 2 at the Sherwood Community Center, 5 miles south of Mathiston. All families and friends are invited to come, bring a dish, and enjoy the day together.

Memorial Service June 3 Pisgah Independent Methodist Church will have a Memorial Service on June 3 at 11 a.m. Lunch will be after the service at noon.

Homecoming Services June 3 Homecoming services at Mt. Airy Church will be held Sunday, June 3. A short business meeting will be held at 10:45 a.m. The worship service begins at 11 a.m. followed with a fellowship lunch. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the day.

Drivers Ed class to be offered this summer June 4-29 Drivers Education will be offered at Ackerman High School this summer from June 4-June 29 from 10 am to 1 pm daily. The class will be available to students in grades 9-12, and each student who completes the class will earn 1/2 credit towards graduation. The cost of the class is $150. Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting Group Location: Choctaw County Extension Office Full Circle Knitting/Crocheting group meets every Tuesday from 9 a.m.- Noon. Beginners through experts are invited to attend. Bring your needles and yarn. Want to help out with a community service project, but can’t attend? Contact us at 285-6337 for other ways you can help.

Senior Citizen Day May 27 Millspring M.B Church will be sponsoring our annual Senior Citizen Day on Saturday May 27 at 10 a.m. Seniors ages 55 and up are encouraged to attend. We will be having a variety of activities to take place such as blood pressure check, bingo games, ring toss, musical chairs, cake walk and other activities. Basketball Tournament June 1-2, Deadline May 28 Millspring M.B. Church will be hosting a basketball tournament for men and women ages 30 and up. This great event will take place on Friday June 1 at 6pm and Saturday June 2 at 10 a.m. The cost for this event will be $30 per team and this will cover both days. A $2 donation will be charge upon entering for all non players. Anyone interested in playing in this fun filled event, please contact one of the following people: Bro.
