FFA holds first banquet

On May 3rd the Ackerman FFA Chapter held its first banquet. A series of awards were handed out to those students who achieved Supervised Agricultural Experience goals, awards earned throughout the year, Greenhand degrees, and chapter degrees. Science- Hayley Thomas Supervised Agricultural Experience is a year round program made up of projects or enterprises where you apply agricultural skills and knowledge taught in the classroom. Some examples of Supervised Agricultural Experiences done by students in Ackerman FFA are growing tomato plants, observing a wildlife food plot, and volunteering at Choctaw veterinary clinic. New Leadership was also appointed. The new Ackerman FFA Chapter Officers of 2012-2013 are: President- Andy Robison, Vice President- Abby Wood, Secretary- Kayleigh Nickels, Student Advisor- Hayley Thomas, Treasurer- John South, Reporter- Samantha Makamson, Sentinel- Alyssa Pritchett, Parlimentarian- Johnny Douglas, Historian- Macie Cook May 3rd marks the now historical date for Ackerman FFA. The chapter plans on holding banquets in the future that will also recognize those students who have met their goals. This year’s banquet was a great success with ninety-two non-members and eighty-five members present. We hope that next year we can double that number.
